My new cat, went with an open mind but was looking at ginger toms from 5 and upwards. I've come back with a girl tabby aged between 2 and 4 she was a stray. She's not ran from my others and they seem fine with her already. Sadly I've said no more now 
I've named her Tiger lily

she's very placid. She sat on my knee and never moved all the way home. I've just left her to explore around. She must have been used to other cats
