Grr Edinburgh Comedy Festival

Titz Towers, North Notts

This is an unofficial rant, as it isn't Thursday.

I really envy those lucky enough to live close to Edinburgh who can go and see the comedy. For the rest of us, it's ruddy frustrating as almost every act of note will be up there, or is now just doing previews of their Edinburgh stuff. It's like the comedy year revolves around this festival.

I feel better for getting that off my chest.

Mind you, talking of feeling relieved, the other day I was in the Doctor's and the guy sat next to me couldn't stop squirming. I had to ask what was up with him. He'd got an entire cricket ball stuck up his bum. I had to ask him how it happened. I never got any further than saying 'How's that....' before he exploded, saying, 'Not you as well!'

I've seen some stuff organised through the Nottingham one, Nathan Caton and Katherine Ryan, but it is very much 3rd rank compare to Edinburgh.

Also acts like Caimh Mcdonnell do Edinburgh but not Notts

Jammy git! I've only seen Caimh the once and he was brilliant. He wasn't even headlining. The headliner came on and never looked comfy, whereas Caimh McD just held the place in the palm of his hand. Perfect timing and he really read the audience. Nathan C is a really hot star and could go places, although when he was on Mock the Week he didn't get time to develop his routine. Mind you that show suits oneliner genius' like Delaney.

I'm a bit of a comedy anorak.

You'd hate me! I've been here 15 years and been lucky enough to be part of the blossoming of bishop, Manford, both carrs, flanagan, Mack, brigstock, Jeffries...

I've been spoiled!

Remind me to order a Sydney University Voodoo Doll to stick pins in! Some people are just SO jammy!

I love live comedy and I'm fortunate to see a fair bit of it and I love seeing someone who is unfamiliar to me storm a gig. A few months ago a teacher from Cumbria really rocked Just the Tonic in Notts. I've also seen some of the more familiar names stumble a bit. Barbara Nice once suffered from going on first to a hostile crowd, but that was due to a pugilistic compere

Now I have heard a lot about him, but he hardly seems to tour. Henning Wehn is another guy I'd like to see but who hasn't been close enough when I'm free. Last year I had to travel to Sheffield to see Justin Moorhouse as he was only local when I was at work.

Have I called you a jammy git yet?
