It's that age old question...

Graphics or gameplay?

Gameplay for me!!

I'd rather a good game that I enjoy, than something that looks pretty but turns out to be shit

If you're all about the graphics, you're not a true gamer.

Shit, most of the games that are out now look too pretty and the gameplay suffers for it.

One thing I'm sick of hearing is "PS4's 1080p and XBone is 720p". Does it really matter? Yeah it might look and run a bit better, but, to some of us at least, that doesn't matter.

Coming from the days of the commodore/atari etc to present day, I will always go back to the retro games because they represent much more of a challenge in terms of gameplay.

Today's games look stunning but rarely have that gameplay addiction you get with some older games.

IMO

Gameplay - otherwise what's the point? Mind you, I'm old enough to remember text based adventure games...

Agree with this. At the moment, I have having a blast with Prision Architect.

Also just picked up some cracking games (Capsized, Thomas Was Alone, Little Inferno, Hotline Miami) for a couple of quid, for the lot

Gameplay. I dug out bomberman the other day. I played it for hours.

I think you can get a bit of both nowadays, although I do like digging out some of the classics.

Gameplay first, but graphics are important for enhancing enjoyment of the overall experience. I'm an old school gamer though, enjoying my 16 bit era games, and though these are typically over 20 years old and obviously don't have all the fancy effects of games today, the fact that they're so well drawn and make great use of the eras limited colour palettes means many of them still look great in spite of their age.

I used to bloody love that. Might have a dig through the spare room chest of drawers for the old consoles and games.

Yeah I remember that. I prefered theme park though.

Gameplay definitely. Last week I downloaded some really old games I used to play for about £3.00 each. Graphics very basic and dated but great fun to play.
