Lady who gives my girls riding lessons her mum dad died and been looking after for years as ill and now been told her rents going up a lot and cant afford to live there so out end of next month and she owns as cottage with brother and its rented and looking in time can move there but I am thinking how can I help .. my stables near my home have a place with water and electric and I could get a static home but not sure of the planning I think you are allowed to put a van on site, but you're not allowed to use it as a residence without PP.
cant remember the exact details, but allowed to use it for so many nights per annum. 28 nights? Could move her into my home but feel its not right on my family and john a person they don't know too well and maybe better like this .And on Ebay some lovely statics. I know people here know all sorts so maybe you do about this ... x |

You'll need to check this but my understanding is it's not a permanent structure if fact its mobile so they can stay in it but have to leave for so many wks a year that's why proper site close. 1 site I know closes for 6 or 8 wks anther if I rember right 3 months an that also why you don't have to pay polltax bonus  |

Best thing is to ring your local council and ask their planning department. They're the ones who grant permission and will be able to tell you the exact rules and regulations  |

Thing about it is if you do it and just don't tell any one then someone will have to complain to council be for your even told to move it , once council do tell you to move they give you 3 months to find somewhere else ( I lived in static on pig farm and this happened to me ) So in short if she only needs it for 4-5 months I would just do it  |

I really wouldn't do that. You might need planning for something else in the future and that wont do you any favours! |

well I hope after to keep it there so we can go in have coffee and if I need people here to help at times when away on holidays be handy .. Some lovely ones on ebay and I know its not just the static but costs of getting it here too I will have to look at . What are they like to live in ? I can see some are a lot better then others on ebay the insides and have to make sure no damp . xxx |

I really wouldn't do that. You might need planning for something else in the future and that wont do you any favours!"
I am in town today having my hair done so I may go to planning office just have a word as have not a clue x |

I had 1 years ago an loved it. I had it on a site 25ish mile away from our house but it was fantastic getting away every wk end but the site fees just kept going up an up an id not long since had my doughter so 1 of em had to go |

"Proper sites" don't necessarily close for a period of some weeks. It's all about the licence granted to them by the local council.
It can also depend on whether they are residential or 'holiday' sites, although even 'holiday' sites can have at least a 50 week licence, and the 50 weeks apply to the individual caravan, not the site.
With caravans, both static and touring, the biggest enemy is water ingress, and the older the caravan the more the potential for it. And although statics in theory don't move, unlike tourers, just remember the pics we've seen on tv over recent winters, and the state of some static caravan sites after serious gales! |

I have heard of similar problems occurring in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire where the respective councils have applied permanency rules to static caravans on sites.
Though it is fair to say that not every council thinks the same way, these cases in those counties could be seen as "test cases" from which other councils may see any positive decision as a means to draw in extra income.
So it is wise to check with your local council before committing yourself. |

think it may depend on if you own the stables or rent them,if you rent them then you would need to ask the landlord,if you own them and the property theres nothing to stop you putting a static home on there,and water and electric would be paid for by you.as there on your supply.the other problem would be sewerage disposal.
i cant see any problem to living there full time,you would need to inform the council as to the taxing situation.not sure if you would need planning permission.,as it becomes a static home.

yes I own land and stables around my home and its would not be full time just 6/8 weeks really .. But was thinking we could have it for people who work for us when need them around at times . |

The maximum you can stay on a CC CL(certificated location) is 28 nights.

Really. I have a cl with 5 statics on. 3 of which have full time residents. Its just the permission you need and getting it without going to the council.
Theres loads like this in lincs for farm workers etc |

Ask the planning office, be sure to tell them it's a temporary solution to a problem, temporary gets around all sorts of issues, but it will remain as a kitchen to the stables afterwards. |

Really. I have a cl with 5 statics on. 3 of which have full time residents. Its just the permission you need and getting it without going to the council.
Theres loads like this in lincs for farm workers etc"
