Are you happier in a relationship or when you're single
Jump to: Newest in thread
"Depends on the relationship I suppose."
This.
Up until two years ago, I had a few years of being single I was extremely happy and everything was fantastic. I seriously questioned being in a relationship ever again.
Then I met my fella and I soon realised that I could keep some independence and be in a relationship at the same time. |

we have the best of both worlds.
long distance relationship.
see each other as often as we can (usually every other weekend, for 3 days) and spend every waking minute with each other, hugging and holding as much as possible.
then, when we part company, its phone calls texts but we both do our own thing (obviously not sexual as we are dedicated to each other)
so we arent living in each others pockets.
we are there for each other
we have our own space and lives. |

I've only had one relationship, which lasted 30 years and was a nightmare for me. I would like someone to sit with and watch tv or go out for a quiet drink with or even to stroll along the beach at midnight, but I don't want the rest of the relationship |

I've not been single for twenty five years. I think I enjoyed it at the time but I'm as happy as I can possibly imagine at the moment. I would dread being sing again though. |

Its a difficult question. I'd love someone to cuddle up with at night, chat, laugh and have sex with on a regular basis....is that a relationship lol? But I do like my independence..... |

I tend to find I'm happier in a relationship... Plus if they're a good laugh, you can have some really good times. That said, the freedom to do what you want is enjoyable |

Neither is better or worse. They are just different. I've enjoyed being single and enjoyed being in relationships, both have their pros and cons.
That said having no family I do enjoy the security of a relationship.

when you have been in an abusive relationship its nice to be able to do as you please ,but miss a cuddle and at the end of a long day someone to share your troubles with so not ending up on here pouring your heart out ,just hate been alone and suppose if you,ve alawys been
single its prob easier than it been forced upon you |

I'm happier now as a single woman than I was in my last relationship and in the last few years of my marriage.
But that's not to say I wouldn't be happy in the right relationship in the future |

Sums it up for me. |

I prefer being single because I value my own space so much.
I miss cuddles, regular sex and sometimes someone to go out to dinner, or whatever, with.
I don't think I could be in a regular, monogamous relationship again though. |

"I have been single so long that my side of the bed is in the middle
"
I have 2 cats. My part of the bed is whatever small, oddly shaped space they've left me. And even that bit is only on loan from them and can be taken back at any time! |

"I was happy single, happy married (for a while), happy single and happy in a relationship. I'm just a happy bunny! "
As above, happy single, happy married (for most of the time) happy single, happy in a relationship (till he died) and happy single. Happy bunny here still. |

"I have been single so long after some really terrible relationships that I find it hard to get out of my set ways and try to make something work.» x"
Me too, can't let someone get too close, always keep them at arms length until I know I can trust them |

I've had really good relationships & a good marriage until the last few months, which were flaming awful & not to be repeated.
I enjoy the freedom of singledom, like others have said I miss regular cuddles, chance to discuss your day with each other & regular sex - but it suits for now and I can't see it changing imminently. |

Interesting question. I think I prefer to be in a relationship but never found the right relationship but had not found swinging then either. Suspect single with a regular fb and swinging would be preference. |
