I have quite a large vinyl record collection and am trying to find out if there is any way that I can convert it to MP3 files or some other electronic media so that I can put it all on my itunes ? I have some stuff that you just cant get nowadays and I want to listen to it again.

Try richer sounds. I've seen a turntable/converter on their website. No idea if it's any good or not though....

Saw a turntable in lidl a while back that did, couldn't vouch for the quality though.

USB turntable works out cheaper than paying someone to digitise them for you if you've got lots of vinyl. Or if you've got a decent sound recording package you could get an external analogue to digital soundcard and record them in real time. I would flac them initially rather than mp3 so you have a digital version that maintains more of the vinyl quality and then do mp3 conversions afterwards. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Cheers all of you. Will take that advice on board.

I wouldn't bother.

Analogue will always sound superior to digital. MP3 and other formats cut so much off the top and bottom of the waveform it's ridiculous.

I understand it's a convenience thing but vinyl will always sound best...

Just don't underestimate the amount of time it would take .... do some quick sums first, you may be surprised!

Much better option is to buy a decent turntable/set up. You won't have the portability, but you will be hearing them as they should be heard!
