My dentist Has said "that my gums are receding, due to my age," , she told me thats where the saying ' long in the tooth ' came from,

I d heard the saying but didn t have a clue as to why and where, I feel like a QI episode so sayings and origins and alans buzzer goes burrrrpppp

You can tell how old a horse is

That where the expression came from. An old horse being "long in the tooth"

Horse dealers always check the teeth
