our gp is a joke minute the phone lines open the appointments have gone!! she says is it an emergency to which I say well my eyes bleeding oh she says what I will do is get gp to call you ...could be this afternoon ... emergency pfft
its actually the white of my eye which has bled overnight don't hurt just irritates and vision fine |

The WIC's are full of people not being able to get appointments at the docs so it seems which is putting pressure on them.
To the OP....the same happened to me the last time I rang the docs early in the morning ( a long time ago ) and I think they ask is it an emergancy as they had no appointments so you feel guilty and say no...but I said yes, got an appointment for 5 oclock in the night and the place was empty, just me in there.
I would say yes again next time. |

looked on internet its a subconjunctival hemorage not much they can do looks dreadful I will wait and get his advice do have a walk in clinic if needs be
they put too much on gps now I have a exemption form due for renewal now have to get gp to sign a form |

There are 2 main doctors where I live and the one I used to be at was so busy. Even if you had an appointment at 8.30 you'd still be 45 mins late being seen. Ring up ill and can't get an appointment for 2 weeks etc.
After my son was born I registered him at the tiny practice round the corner from me and they are amazing. So I changed as well. Only one doctor and 2 nurses. They know everyone by first name and never have to wait for an appointment etc x |

People keep on at me that my surgery is old fashioned and out of date not to have an appointment system but I've never had to wait days to see my doctor.
If I feel unwell I get there by for about 8am and I'm seen at 9am when he starts surgery or very shortly afterwards if someone has got there before me.
When my medical condition is playing up, I ring the nurse and I can pop in and have a blood test the following morning. |

I know how it happened!!! I had a coughing fit last nite and it seems its caused it according to internet when this gp phones I can now tell him ..... if hes good he will ask me to come down and check blood pressure but..... lol doubt that |

I'm one of those lucky gits that seems to enjoy good health, apart from bad skin. On the odd occasions I have been to the Doctor's, I always take a good book and sit there worrying what the old boy sat next to me has and if anyone else in the room is going to give me a present I don't want. I also have to resist the urge to start doing Tony Hancock impressions with the posters on the walls.
On the bright side, though, when my Granddad was alive, through an amazing series of coincidences he'd sometimes be at the docs at the same time and it used to fair make both of our days to see each other unexpectedly.  |

Gp surgeries aren't meant for emergencies. Thats why we have walk in centres and casualties. Do you have NHS direct/111 in your area? Or try eye casualty. The reason people can't get an appt with a GP is because there's too many people there who don't need to be (not saying you with your eye as that needs attention)... ie coughs and viruses. Gps work very hard.

we used to be able to go to gp and queue outside and guarantee an appointment but everyone started standing there from 7am and it was getting stupid so they stopped it
I do avoid gps cos I think like tina you catch more sitting in waiting room |

I cant believe GP's these days. Disgusting. I'll never forget when the GP forced some tablets on me to quit smoking, nearly frigging topped myself they were really bad! Anyhow just quit cold turkey instead.
I have a brother who plays the system big time, goes to GP with a bad back and gets sick notes for months at a time! What a joke!
Meanwhile numpty here pays shed loads of tax and cant get an appoitments for a general MOT. |

My gps surgery is great I can always get a same day appointment.
However, if I want to see the gp I'm registered to appointments are booked a week ahead and I recently had to go to their sister surgery to see a female gp for a same day appointment.

"Some GPs won't touch eyes, they prefer an opthalmology dept to treat it. Has your nearest hospital got an eye clinic, many have a walk in eye clinic  "
gp is 100% sure its a hemorage and nothing can be done .. the blood gets reabsorbed so any vampires out there for now lol |
