In 1985 I was working nights (4 on 3 off) and couldn't sleep so decided to have a trip up to Hull to see ma gran, about 120 miles.
I took all the backroads and stuck to every speed limit on the way. Got there about 4.30 am, parked up under the Humber bridge and got ma head down for a couple of hours.
Managed to get about 55 mpg out of ma battered 2 litre Cav. Came back on the M1 and got that down to a more normal 35 |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
I used to when I had a fun car.
Now I can't justify wasting the fuel. I only drive when I have to. Although my car is a heap, and running it is a real financial strain, I feel very fortunate that I'm able to. |
