Great Wyrley

Is olive oil bad for you?

I know its better for you than using vegetable oil etc

I use it quite often in my cooking and I use the olive spread too.

for the record, I dont put olive oil any where near my cake

Apparently olive oil should not be used for frying as in vapour form their are toxins given off. Not sure how true this is....

Put the cake down.

Step backwards away from the cake.

What kind of cake is it anyway?

it's no better than other oils when used for cooking. the heat causes changes. a better one for cooking that heat doesn't change is coconut oil.

This only applies to extra virgin olive oil, which should be used raw in dressing.

Light oil is good to cook with

Olive oil is not really suitable for deep frying. One reason being a low flashpoint

Olive oil is great stuff but when heated, it turns into a trans fat so best eaten cold. All other vegetable oils are best completely avoided, very bad for you. Olive oil spread is vegetable oil, factory made with about 5-10% olive oil added.

Manufactures are now abandoning their original margarine recipe (closer to plastic than anything else) and adding butter to it.

Contrary to popular and misconstrued belief, saturated fat is very good for you but not in part of a diet that includes processed food.

We use rapeseed oil or olive oil.

Not dead yet only ever use a tiny bit tho.

For stir fry jus enough to prevent sticking to pan
