Going to have a mini rant first they say to wash at a low temperature but now they are saying that it does not get rid of bacteria. So now we need to buy special detergent to get rid of bacteria.
Ps I only use two maybe three cycles on my washing machine no need to make it complicated.
Thoughts please.....x |

Not all bacteria is bad we are obessed on bacteria and over the top cleanliness to point of kids especially being wrapped in cotton wool.
Germs to a point are good so the immune system can create antibodys. |

but socks, underwear, pillow cases and bedding need a hot wash though, I also think the companies are on a con with all the new toothbrushes, toothpaste, washing powders etc., they seem to bring out on a weekly basis - oh, here's a household tip! - if your shower curtain ( sorry if you don't have one ) gets mould, pour over washing conditioner and give a wee scrub, it will lift of like magic! |

When I had scabies, the doctor told me that the bug is only killed by a 60 deg wash so that sounds right to be honest and for a long time I washed everything at 60 deg even coloureds |

I wonder how we haven't all died from all these rogue bacteria poisoning us.
I shan't be tempted to rush out and buy such products. They only fuel on and feed off our paranoia. |

I decide what material needs what wash and why and whether the material can withstand what I do to it.
You do NOT need special detergent. |

So when the clothes were beaten on a rock by the river were the bacteria knocked off?
Hot wash for sheets and knickers and everything else can go in a cool wash. I only use Method non bio.

Bacteria? What sort of bacteria linger on clothes to cause illness?
Do you wash the covers on the three piece every time you sit on them, your coats each time you wear them, your curtains, carpets, bedspreads, dressing gowns, jeans, cushions, blankets, scarves, gloves and soft toys every time they are touched?
Madness. Stop blindly following the shit that is marketing to make you part with your money for no good reason at all. |

The ad that says bacteria in your washing machine must be eliminated gets me annoyed too. An ex-news presenter asks what will happen and the "expert" replies it will cause a nasty smell.

What Topsy said. We need bacteria to keep us strong and able to fight against illness.
Dettol tries to use adverts to make us all neurotic and despite knowing that sterile environments make us weaker, still peddle their wares and paranoia. That is wrong and must be stopped. |

It's a bit like the no-touch hand washing thing.
It goes something like this; touch tap with dirty hands. Wash hands with soap from non-touch dispenser. Turn dirty tap off with clean hands.
More fucking madness. |

"a 30 degree wash just washes saves power, heat kills bacteria."
and what is this strain of deadly bacteria that has suddenly appeared needing anti bacterial products to be added to a washing machine wash? when you put them out on the washing line to dry do you wipe the line with a strong caustic bleach to remove the bacteria from the line, or do you just contaminate your bacteria free cloth with any bird or insect pooh that's on the line.
We are bacteria mad. It's all around us inside us! There are fewer toxic strains than non toxic, but as human beings we need to be exposed to them to build up immunity.... |
