University towns

I feel the need to express my appreciation and admiration of all those young people endeavoring to educate and better themselves. I love living in a university town, full of life and youth. 
Especially the strapping youths who use the university sports facilities next to my mate's house and wander the streets near there in skimpy sports kit with a healthful glow....

My local gym is also the University gym and I enjoy a sneaky perve at all the strapping young men on the weights. Shame there's also the skinny young ladies making me look like a heffalump!
York is a lovely place to live overall. I reckon the best thing is all the real ale pubs. |

It's quiet but very convenient for travelling. Beautiful countryside surrounding it. Strong community feel and plenty of good restaurants, pubs and life. Close to two major cities without being too urban. |

I also have the peak district on my doorstep, an artisan ice cream maker as my milkman, Manchester, Leeds and York just an hour away and only a ten minute drive into the city centre.
But it's mostly about the fine young things in lycra  |

The fact that the rent is roughly half if London, I'm surrounded by fields and a fast train to London is barely 20 minutes.
More than enough to offset the fact the town is culturally baron with no decent nightlife and is overrun with chavs! |

the main thing in hull is the uni, and that's actually why i moved here. the perving is one helluva bonus, though. those cuties roam campus in that sports kit too. but I'm not looking to be mrs Robinson. i look, but i don't touch.  |

The Cotswolds with all it's pretty villages & lovely countryside is on my doorstep. There's always great places to visit. Cheltenham has great shops, a good nightlife & great restaurants plus a brilliant Racecourse.
Best thing is - it always feels a really safe place to live.  |

like east berlin.. but without the cheeriness!!
best thing about newcastle... cheap beer, skirts below the knees are banned here (same with coats!) the fact that people are friendly enough to chat with anyone.... did i mention cheap beer!!  |

love driving along the fosseway makes my car journey to my mums an hour longer but its far nicer than motorway driving |

some of you are so lucky to live in places like york ,torbay, cheltenham,and the like. i live in an northern industrial town with not much going for it, my family and friends live here and it's home and thats what counts. |

I work in a university town and (most of) the students are great. But the best thing is that Aberystwyth is also a sea side town. The prom is beautiful even after the storm damage a few months ago. We have a gorgeous view of Cardigan bay and it never rains

I live with the north Yorkshire moors right on my doorstep,i like the market on a Saturday,nr enough to Leeds and Harrogate,and the walks round here are stunning,the river walks are lovely,and only 3 or 4 minute walk to the shops,and plenty of pubs,theres a good music scene going as well if you like folk and rock |

Brighton is a double University town and what is good about that is that it's always vibrant and lively. I like the vibe of Brighton and the beach atmosphere and the weird independent shops in the lanes. |

Ahhh to grow up a northern lass is to laugh at the idea of wearing a coat to spoil the look of your new (very skimpy) outfit or to interfere with drinking time by having to queue at the cloakroom. |

I like the pavilion. The lanes are great too but the pavilion is gorgeous. I hope to move down that way later this year, fingers crossed! |

Whilst I often whinge about the remoteness of Arse End, I actually love it...small town, I can walk to the sea in 15 minutes or so, drive to Windermere in 40 minutes or so, neighbours look out for each other, my drive to work is along the coast and is stunning on nice days when I can see Anglesey, Scotland and the Isle of Man (when I'm a passenger of course)...and I'm lucky enough to be able to afford to bugger off whenever I feel a bit provincial and visit the cities |

What makes Stoke good is the people.
I've lived with Stokies for 17 years and loved it.

Three square meals a day all nicely cut up into small pieces, I get De flea'd and hosed down twice a month by a Hunky nurse called Guntha ..oh and on a clear day i can watch them looking for the bodies in the old gasworks through the bars on my window

I just love it because it feels like home tho, the good parts and the bad.

I work on dartmoor, if you have a car it's a great place to get lost on in the summer as long as you don't get caught by the Army /Navy /Marine recruits wandering about it. |

A lot of woods and parks on my doorstep. Not quite forests and the Dales, but enough to satisfy me on a daily basis.
Plenty of things to do if you know where to look.
An hour on the train to London for when I'm really bored.
Decent job opportunities, unlike where I used to live. |

I am within walking distance of 2 areas of outstanding natural beauty...my local branch of Tesco has a backdrop of the Clwydian range...the road I live on has no street lights so I can see all the stars on a clear night...
...and every time I turn on the 'see who's near' facility on my phone, I realise why I choose to say I live elsewhere |
