Have you noticed when reading replies to some of the threads here there's always some tool who seems to be here just to make sarcastic comments. How low is their self esteem if they need to use sarcasm to appear witty and intelligent at the expensive of others. Would you really want to meet someone like that?

I detect sarcasm in this.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Perhaps sometimes you read sarcasm when none was intended. It's difficult to judge tone when communicating solely via the written word. It could say more about you than them that you interpret it that way.

And personally I'd rather see sarcasm or attempted humour than people who start threads solely to slag off others.

i love sarcasm i find it witty and does brighten some posts which can be dull at times.

To be honest some of the threads deserve an injection of sarcasm or humour as alot would call it as some posts deserve to be brought back to earth with a bang after their better than others posts.

keep up the sarcssm i say . all sarcastic replies welcome

Central

The problem with sarcasm is that it can just be too easy to throw it around, in copious amounts.

Banter is great, where the spirit is about having fun together, but sarcasm can often be too cutting, or distracting and dishonest - despite its apparent simple message. Much better to have intelligent wit and drop any hostility.

Some people's attempt at sarcasm falls short and makes them sound bitter and aggressive. Sarcasm can make people laugh, sardonism doesn't

From up high I can see the arguments for and against sarcasm, however it's a great tool to keep the staff in check.

It's equally disappointing and amusing when it's lost on people. We have a cultural obligation to practise it, lots.

Your tone isn't pleasant.

Your language isn't pleasant.

Your unfounded accusations about others are unpleasant.

Putting up a post to vent instead of approaching the person in question serves no purpose and is unpleasant.

Assuming things about other people is unpleasant.

Really, trying to spread invective is unpleasant.

There. No sarcasm at all.

There's lots of put downs held on to by those without their own wit. That saying is attributed to Wilde I think... or was it just he who retorted with 'but the highest form of intelligence?
