A few accessible online tools are about 12 months out, might be a good time for Fabswingers hosts to think about a way to combat this? no?

Somewhere in North Norfolk

The technology has existed for a long time. It's not generally available to the public yet but it's been around for ages.

Brighton - even Hove!

What would happen if I pulled a face and blew my cheeks out to look like a frog? Would I be recognized?

I would be more worried about technology that could read fingerprints

I use and have access to this type of tech through work... We can all log in as each other by just using a colleagues Facebook picture.... It is way too vulnerable for the open market and a long way off it too

So it can scan a pic of my face and link it to other photos of me?or will it give my name address and phone number out?

Haven't they been doing this for years for organising & tagging photos?

I think the responsibility is with how people share their information online, not site owners.

Sorry I meant for log in scans, to use as a means to access a device.

I can log in as my colleague just by placing his Facebook profile picture to the camera

The amount of personal freedom that is being constrained by technology is awful. Soon our every move, alongside all of our online habits etc, will be known, via the use of CCTV, and cameras deployed all over the place. We've walked into a surveillance state.

Online habits are already known and tracked daily.

How do you think each company delivers targeted adverts?

So are you saying it will be compulsory to use this technology to logon to things? I don't get where the danger is if it will just be an option?

I had a phone that had face unlock on it a cviuplke of years ago but I never used it.

Facial recognition had been around for ages however because everything only uses one camera it can't distinguish between a 3d face and a 2d image so is easily fooled

Or if you're thinking omg they'll find my face book, reverse image searches have again been around for ages and don't need a face pic to work.

Either way it's not something that affects fab at all, nor pretty much anything else on the internet no company is going to lower it's security by using it over passwords or pins and lose custom by requiring all users purchase a correctly speced Web cam for their pc
