We've just indulged in a cream tea.. Lovely fruity scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam!
So jam on top and cream on the bottom?
Or jam on the bottom and cream on top?
Which is the right way ? |

"From bottom up:
scone, jam, cream, jam, scone.
Push down, open mouth, insert.
Ditto
Forgot the butter. Can't put jam on without butter. "

Please excuse my ignorance, but if your scone (s-gone) turns up creamed/jamed the wrong way, cant you just turn it upside down?
Hey presto? Or am i missing something? |

"Cream used in the same way as butter on the scone and then a small dollop of jam on top. The opposite for the other side.
"
Spot on..originally clotted cream was used instead of butter..it is easier to spread on the hard surface of a scone..followed by the jam..us Devonians are practical buggers !! |

"Do you eat the two halves if the scone separately or do you have a sort of scone sandwich ?"
Has to be seperate with the jam on the bottom and a blob of clotted cream on the top |

My first cream tea was in Devon as a child so I always do it the Devon way and not the Cornish way.

Cut in two (the scone) jam both sides and a min of 4.5 cubic inches of cream. |
