There are many nice people and many unpleasant people. It is by no means gender specific. |

I can understand what you are saying. i will never understand the controlling nature from either male or female in the relationship. However, a lot of nice people (male and female) end up in the divorce court as being 'nice' is just not enough of a relationship keeper............. |

One person will always be an arsehole when you only hear the other sides version. Manipulative and controlling can range from violent and abusive to merely expressing reservations and having a different point of _iew.
"He's constantly on at me to have sex every night!"
"We haven't had sex for three months"
One couple, both statements are true. |

"Nasty girls yes, manipulative also, but physically and mentally abusive? I know none.."
Manipulation can be mental abuse surely?
I've known someone very adept at it and they had the same power and control issues as a mental abuser.
And I think I read about 40% of cases of violence in the home are against men, and they're even less likely than women to report it. Even taking into account some of these will be same sex relationships domestic violence is not the exclusive domain of men. |

because they aren't physically and menatlly abusive to you doesn't mean they aren't to anyone else. The most shocking thing I have ever witnessed was a woman right up in her three or four year old daughter's face screaming "ok fatty" |

that's because you are probably very nice to them "
My Granddad once got involved in a brawl in around 1928, but apart from that, he spent all of his life being nice to people, pockets full of sweets for everyone he met, a word of encouragement for anyone down, a lot of good by stealth for friends and as a result no one ever did anything nasty to him or said anything off colour. I've learnt a bit from that I hope.*

there arent that many nice men or women.
women are usualy much more bitchy than men, most people are selfish and they dont admit to their faults, they lie to themselves thinking they are better than what they are, its easier to see other peoples faults than to see your own. i know of men who can be controlling or verbaly abusive at times, but they have other good things about them too so you put up with the bad bits or change your behaviour because its easier that way. |

So it would be ok to assume thy you might not know you know controlling or abusive women seeing as you didn't know every facet of this persons nature?
It's never nice to realise someone isn't as nice as we thought they were but that is just one person, not a representation of all. |

You just reminded me of a situation on a bus where I felt utterly helpless.
A woman spent 15 minutes belittling her son who was all of 4 and doing nothing wrong. He was told he was useless repeatedly and she spat the words at him. He never spoke a single word. It was at the back where the seats face each other. Eventually she got so tired of him she told him to stand up and face the window and she put her feet against his back so he couldn't move. I told her to stop it but she blanked me. When she got off the bus she just walked off without once looking back for where he was. I had to run after him and take his hand because he was about to try and cross a main road alone in B'ham city centre and there were cars coming. I kept hold of his hand and stood there until she eventually turned round about 5 minutes later and walked back.
I did report it to the police and gave a description of her and named the college that her ID badge had on but I was doubtful anything would happen.
One thing I do believe, it will be a miracle if that little boy doesn't grow up hating women.
Sorry I veered way off the point. |

I fear for him to this day and his expressionless face haunts me.
I at least took the step to contact our safeguarding team locally to ask advice on what I could have done because I felt I hadn't done right by him. I wondered at that moment holding his little hand, if I just take this lad to the police station now will I be kidnapping? |

"speaking for myself - as someone who's been called a "real gentleman" and "a really nice man" - so, so many women I've known have gone for the bastards rather than for me! "
Can relate to that, a lot of women do seem to be attracted to the bad boys. |

or so you think. If the men are being physically or mentally abused by a female they are less likely to reveal that and so the women doing it remain hidden.

Is manipulation not a form of mental abuse? I know equal numbers of nice and nasty males and females. I know females who are physically abusive to their partners but the guys are to embarrassed to do anything about it.
Thank god for all the nice guys and girls out there. |
