I have a question in relation to blackloves postings lol,
He says if a black calls another black , nigger , then its not racist , if a white calls a black , nigger , then it becomes racist,
If a white calls a white, honky its not racist but if a black calls a white , honky , it becomes racist.
Heres my question . What if mixed race uses these words to either the white or black, what would the deffinition be.  |

Personally, I can't stand Jeremy Clarkson. He's an arrogant, overpaid, ignorant twat who is one of the main reasons I have such an aversion to paying a license fee for the twaddle he comes out with most of the time. Saying that, I do believe in freedom of speech within the law. If he did say nigger, then it wasn't directed at anyone in particular, or used as a "hate term". Sack him for being a twat in general, not for an off-the-cuff obscure retelling of an old rhyme. |

Met him a couple of times, he likes to shock on occasion but does not make him an "ist" of any kind except sensationalist.
Incidentally Top Gear is the most oversubscribed show when it comes to audience requests for tickets anywhere in the world |

Clarkson, is an idiot, he puts his foot in his mouth a lot. He has stereotyped Truckers, Mexicans and Women in the past. Is he a racist, no I don't think so. He said the word in footage that wasn't broadcast. If that had gone out then he would have been sacked, most people say lots of things when the mics and cameras are off (not usually offensive things) but things that may upset people. It would be impossible to sack them all. The BBC will discipline him, which is a tough grilled process.
He's guilty of that but sacking him is a step too far. |

This is the thing that puzzles us. If the offending footage wasn't broadcast on tv then how did it come to be in the public domain??  |

If a particular word is so abhorrent, then NO ONE should use it.
There is no excuse, strike it from modern lexicon altogether. Don't try to change it, empower it, own it or pervert it. It becomes a word which serves no purpose other than in a historical context.
Applying rule-sets about who 'owns' a word, who as the'right to use it' and who doesn't is ludicrous. It creates fear, anger and hatred new and unnecessary ways.
That's my two cents, anyway. |
