I am very suprised how many people prefer to play and have unprotected intercourse. Maybe im getting old ??, it was drummed into us in the 80s and 90s the risk of Aids and other STDs, they have not gone away and unless regular testing is carried out and proof shown how can you be sure.
I always prfer to play safe and protect all involved.

Even with proof, you only receive that after two weeks possibly less, so your only as clear as the last test you had, and it doesn't always mean it's clear you have to go back after 3 months after having the unprotected sex,,, very silly, x miss hot |

I would venture to suggest that in an ideal world, everyone would prefer not to use condoms but this ain't no ideal world, sadly. So the only bare sex we have is between ourselves, everyone who comes to us will have protection supplied before they get to play. |

Not for me,I avoid profiles that mention bareback

I keep my all clear 6weekly texts,so if people unsure of my lifestyle I'm happy to show them |

On Newsnight last night they did a piece on the number antibiotic drugs that are now ineffective aginst viral infections.
One little gem that made me sit up and pay attention was revealed by the Uk Cheif Medical Officer. She stated that the most recently developed antibiotic for Gonorrhoea has been found to be ineffective in certain cases.

I don't disagree in some senses. I personally believe if people want to bareback it's their choice.
Everybody gets a bit sanctimonious about safety and say so on profiles but very few mention getting tested. Therefore I think what constitutes safe sex is a broad spectrum.
Even my GUM clinic have never suggested dental dams or condoms for oral but some people consider oral without a no go.
I don't know anyone personally who is quite that safe. |

It's not really a forum of debate fab: it's agree with the majority or get pilloried for it.
I think a majority view of 'be safe, get tested' is a good thing.
Sometimes it's how people express their distaste that dismays me.
If people discussed it openly rather using rational discussion rather than hysteria and then calling people skanks and disgusting it might be less likely that people will just lie about it because they're being castigated.
That's what I've seen in here anyway.
I've found it quite different. Because it's a site to meet other site members people tend to agree with what will make them seem more sensitive - rather than stick to their own belief. I've been called a fucking troll for going against the grain on a thread that I thought was mawkish and full of artificial grief. Debate is healthy - I'd rather have no meets that sacrifice my honest views.
I think you might find that on the other thread people didn't necessarily agree and therefore chose to say nothing, because there is nothing much to gain for anyone.
I myself don't go in for compulsory grieving either but that's personal to me. I wouldn't get satisfaction from, or change anyone elses behavior by pointing out my viewpoint.
If im genuinely sad I will say so, if I'm ambivalent or not sad, then I won't.
You can't assume to know what's in anyone elses heart and death is a very touchy subject for many so to me it seems churlish to wish to assert your position just because you can.

I've never asserted anything on anyone.
In any thread that starts RIP whoever, is saying, look at me! I read the paper and I care! Followed by a ton of messages that say their thoughts are with the family etc. No they are not. But it reads well, huh? I'm as sentimental and caring as the next person - but I don't need to publicly grieve to look good.

Russian Roulette has a 1 in 6 chance of the person having their brains blown out.
I am obviously a novice at this because I am not aware of any sexual activity where you have a 1 in 6 chance of dying in every sex session.
Statistics indicate that the risks associated with bareback sex are often far less than those related to activities that are treated with far less emotional hyperbole.
Let those that wish to take their risks in this way do so; and those that wish to hang-glide, climb mountains, ride motorbikes, visit undeveloped countries, join the armed forces etc. take risks their way.
DISCLAIMER: I am not supporting or condeming bareback sex so don't accuse me of that. Just trying to get some proportionality when people consider the risks involved.  |

I couldnt care less about that big word you used,I go on a lot bareback and sti threads,to say I don't do it out of choice ,my own thoughts,as I was unfortunate to catch a sti last year,I wrote a thread to bring awareness,I was lucky I didn't get anything worse,,and now I'm more careful,as a single woman without a partner to watch I'm safe,I didn't even do bareback that I was aware,so I always state I get tested regulary to hopefully encourage others to do so for their safety and safety of others
I have no issues with people who do bareback,it their choice,I just would prefer to avoid and do prefer profiles to be honest about doing it

I believe that ones attitude to risk is key to this question. If you study the Health Protection Agency statistics for sti diagnoses you will find that they vary from 160 per 100,000 in a rural area through to ten or more times that in an urban area. You will also find that there is a factor of 10 increase of infections in the 20-24yo age group over the 45-64 group. On top of that the infections covered include HPV and other herpes infections which are endemic in 50% of the population, but show no symptoms. Our old bogeyman HIV has a prevalence of greater than 200,000 times less than all others combined.
Just in case all that seems straight forward you then have to consider the significance of any individual infection. That goes from not very nice but totally controllable, HIV, to the broadly irrelevant endemic such as herpes which is also controllable.
I'm not saying bareback is good bad or indifferent, just that the chances of infection are highly variable across places and groups, such that you need to look objectively at which groups you play with, and then make your decision. I suspect that for some the risk of infection is rather less than being struck by lightening, and is then easily curable. For others it is a serious issue. |

I said in my last post that new HIV diagnoses were 200,000 less than all others. This is an error on my part. New HIV diagnoses nationwide ammounts to approx 1.5% of all STI diagnoses per annum.

I'm only bareback with 1 man, if I get any thing then I know the source, the thing with bareback sex especially on here, check pics and veris for some idea of what you are getting, if you go with someone who likes both sexes and plays unsafe on regular basis then its only a matter of time before blue waffle and knob rot sets in!! Peeps condoms don't mean you can't get stds so no, you don't necessarily know the source if you catch one and only bareback with your partner. It could still be from meet. A condom makes us safer, it doesn't make us safe. |

In a way I am more concerned about those that always wear a condom and as a result NEVER get tested.
The comment that persons with HIV were targeting swingers has no basis in fact that I can find. In any case, if they did that deliberately they could be convicted of very serious assault charges. Statistics still indicate the chances of a female contracting HIV from an already infected male is 1:1000. |

Often thought about this,it's all very scary that people will risk there lives by having no protection
Even with regular partners
Some things like warts have a very long incubation period and won't show up on any tests
Do people really wait for there results before sleeping with there next encounter ?
