I read somewhere that they don't like the smell of spearmint. I bought some essential oil and put a few drops in a spray and use it as air freshner. Haven't seen any for a while (tho maybe a coincidence). Also heard they dont like conkers.

I have trained all of my house spiders how to drill holes through Horse Chestnut tree seeds, thread them with pieces of string with knots in one end and go to battle.

It can be quite entertaining if you have the patience

"Why are people so afraid of spiders?"

its a primal thing...some of us arent as evolved as we think, spiders,snakes..strike fear into us as they may be venomous...

a general repulsion to invertebrates of many types is probably more a western issue...weirdly we seem to accept the sea fairing ones more readily...

Tonight I was lying on my belly doing a Code Word puzzle and a cheeky sized spider walked across the page.I lifted my arm up and brought it down at I reckon at 200mph and flattened the bastard. I know spiders are good for getting rid of flies and such like in the flat, but it was pure reponse to the shock of it suddenly appearing.May you rest in peace Mr Spider I hope you haven't left a large family behind that are going to starve to death because of my big girls blouse reaction.

I love 'hysterical about tiny teeny creature' threads. Being the person forever rescuing them from murderous shoe bearers it's hard not to giggle when someone is screaming 'fucking get it out' about something that they're 500 times bigger than.

A guy in my old office once inadvertently said 'oh shit' down the phone to a custiomer when a bee was sitting about 6 feet away on a windowsill.

He looked at me so pleadingly to sort out the situation.

And the mouse once was all out on top of desk hysteria. Except me cos I'm not remotely scared of em.

Good luck with your wee beastie.....I hope it leaves home before it's executed.

"I love 'hysterical about tiny teeny creature' threads. Being the person forever rescuing them from murderous shoe bearers it's hard not to giggle when someone is screaming 'fucking get it out' about something that they're 500 times bigger than.

agreed they are one of god creatures imagine if for instance elephants started smacking us over our heads with their shoes everytime you saw one at a safari park, zoo or in the wild, thats all we are doing, capture it and let it free.

They hate citronella, if you place a few drops of it around the window sills or skirting boards it stops them coming in. Im like you ( D) hate the buggers and scream like mad for P to kill them

In our Conservatory we have A regular spider in there the web gets in the way a Bit sometimes but I don,t mind that but If a butterflie go,s in there The Spider Won,t differentiate between that and a fly Luckily up to now I have been able to release any butterflies going in there I once saw the spider over power a wasp once Quite a feat that unsure if the spider Naturally knows there was a killer sting There certainly for the Spider any way.....

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

It's a spider. It's tiny and utterly harmless. It's not like there's a hungry lion in your house. I find if you just ignore them they disappear eventually.
