I think the government should be looking at taxing the income on rental homes particularly income on more than one home which hopefully will curb the buy to rent mob snapping up houses and therefore pushing up the prices except where the houses were in rundown areas where builders have invested in getting potentially derelict properties habitable again |

That sounds more logical I don't know the ins and outs I just caught a snippet about 3 year contracts. In all honesty its so impractical I didn't look it up. |

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Milliband a part of a former Government that massively increased demand for rented housing substantially whilst also decimating house building?

Seems that the private rental sector needs some greater controls on it. Id severely curtail it, with much greater rent controls as well as improved tenancy rights. What has been discussed seems a decent next step, even if somewhat soft. |

I seem to remember that it was Thatcher who got rid of rent control at the same time as selling off the public housing stock (at up to 70% discount) thus starting the house price hyper inflation that has taken the hope of owning a house out of the reach most normal working people. |

Which is in reality what happens everywhere. Hence the "spare room" tariff (or bedroom tax depending on your view) so people can no longer claim HB for a 3 bed place when living on their own. Current system does, still, seem to pet those on HB to have more kids and hence claim more for HB - but that's a different debate! |

I pay tax on the rental income on my property I rent out. Why should I pay more tax on it then I already do?? |
