i care for the elderly amongst others - the inability to toilet, wash, dress, feed etc is what gets a lot of them down - the mental aging is worse for those left behind often |

On the subject of ageing, Billy Connolly once said that when you reach 60 you should always remember two things: 1) Always take a piss when the opportunity arises, 2) Never trust a fart!! |

Considering my recent health issues I am actually looking forward to getting old - another 30 years at least!
I intend to be a disreputable and mischievous old lady, jumping queues and hitting people with my handbag till the do what I want and when sat in a care home smelling of pee I will shock and scandalise the staff with tales of what I got up to when younger. |

I was heartbroken when I hit 60 so a few months before I had a photo shoot done just to remind me , if I live to 80 I can look back and say I was growing old disgracefully
Oh and as someone commented I must have a great surgeon, cheeky bastard lol |

The manner in which I might die preoccupies me, not so much death itself.
I've accepted the inevitable poverty leading to hunger and being cold, loss of independence and loss of mental faculties.
All assuming I reach a good age of course! |

Being physically infirm. My gran celebrated her 80th with a century ride and my grandad was still out on his bike in his 90s and I hope I have their genes. I accept a loss of mobility is not age specific and if it ever happens I'll be off to dignitas. The thought of being housebound is horrible.
I'm totally at ease with my mortality. Death doesn't scare me. |

Being old actually is that your mind is still 21 but your body doesn't agree with it.What pisses me off being old is trying to get an erection it can take up to half an hour getting a good semi.I have aches and pains all over but not to bad to make your life a misery.I feel good in myself and love life. The downside is a woman isn't interested in you to have sex with, but enjoy you being their daddy buddy (does that make sense?)Anyway life isn't to back as long as you don't let it getting you down. |

being in a care home with non caring staff who don't give a shit!!!
reminds me of the time when I was in hospital and an old lady wanted the loo and they kept ignoring her so after a while I heard her say oh well you wouldn't listen so serves you right followed by water as she wet the bed then they attended to her!!! |

Just nursed my father through a particularly vicious cancer, watched him decline daily. His body failed him but his mind stayed sharp as a tack till the end .....I swear I'm off to dignitas with a hop and a skip if my cancer ever gets a hold of me like that and I've told the kids I will go gladly than end up broken in body and spirit ..... it would be a blessing if my mind went before that happens. |

Panorama on television this evening promises to be an eye-opener on the subject of care-homes. |
