To compliment or not?

Earlier today while searching or browsing profiles... I came across a single womans profile... with an amazing picture... It's... let's say retro porn like... but I find it beautiful...

I'd love to compliment her on her picture but her whole profile ask that single males DON'T contact her... I do totally respect that... but equally want yo compliment her on her picture...

So... There's a question? Is it okay to message in that context?! Um... Or respect her wishes to the full? Any thoughts? lol

If a single bloke mails us/ me with an intelligent mail we will always respond and more often than not meet him. The clue is... be different from the others, be distinct which in my case means I am not interested in a cock pic if that is all you have to offer as I can get that in copious potions at home.

So be witty, be funny be genuine... And go for it Women like that xxx

You have answered your own question. Saying her whole profile ask that single males DON'T contact her... I do totally respect that.

So if you respect then you dont mail. Besides if she is that hot she will be getting 100 messages a day.

I would have though ‘no single guys’ on a profile means I don’t want to be bombed out with ‘I’ve got a 12 inch cock and I’m the best shag you haven’t had yet’ type emails. I wouldn’t assume it means ‘don’t want any single males talking to me EVER’.

having no single males written, is a bit different to having, single males DON'T contact me.

Why not try and see, the worst that can happen is you get blocked

I don't state that I do not wish single males to contact me... but I do state a number of other preferences which regularly get ignored. I get compliments on pics and how my profile reads... most start with "I know your profile says you're not interested in... balr blar blar... but I just wanted to compliment you on (whatever)". I now delete pretty much all of them.... becayse... if I thank them in a reply pound to a penny I get another message (or 3) asking if I have changed my mind

So, in an attempt to avoid having some arsehole pestering me, I press delete.

So can someone please tell me how that gives me a heart of stone and anything else that's been suggested.

Personally? Yes, I do even if it is a an 18 year old who has not got a cat in hell's chance with me due to his age. I know some people dont have the time and perhaps they get so many more emails that they cannot possibly answer them but I choose to. And if it is a "no thanks" i usually state "sorry if that disappoints" and "happy swinging" as a minimum. It is just how I would like to be treated - that's all

Yes I would because I always think of how the other person might feel receiving my mail - and for some it might be the umpteenth rejection.

But I totally understand if you get hundreds of emails that people dont have the time or inclination.

I simply see communication for what it is - an exchange of messages at whatever level. If somebody messages me - I reply. If I message them I find it courteous to receive a reply, although I do not expect one. I will say this : I have not ever not received a reply to an email I sent on this site.

I agree. I've had messages like that before when I've stated that I'm not looking for new contacts. I always replied to say thanks and left it there.

If it's genuinely a harmless compliment and nothing more then I don't see the problem unless the person in question is particularly touchy.

So do you see your action of contacting them as being respectful to their wishes and what's more, their written request for you NOT to contact them in the first place?

I simply see communication for what it is - an exchange of messages at whatever level. If somebody messages me - I reply. If I message them I find it courteous to receive a reply, although I do not expect one. I will say this : I have not ever not received a reply to an email I sent on this site. "

How many messages have you sent to people who said they didn't want to be contacted by couples or only wanted couples under 30 years of age?

I just can't believe anyone could say they think it's OK to ignore a request NOT to be contacted by a particular group of people and then expect to get a reply.

We all know that alot of people on here ignore what is written in most profiles but when there's a facility to block single guys, it's simple enough to stop even those with the most genuine of intentions from contacting you.

I doubt it... but you did ask what's the worst that could happen. I think the first example is quite likely if they don't read the message and just see it is from a single guy.

"But to pay someone a compliment is not the same as asking for a quick s**g

I agree. I've had messages like that before when I've stated that I'm not looking for new contacts. I always replied to say thanks and left it there.

If it's genuinely a harmless compliment and nothing more then I don't see the problem unless the person in question is particularly touchy.

What about if the profile says

Let me be clear on this NO SINGLE MALES... at all... ever... i will not reply to you. That means, Stop mailing, winking and inviting me as a friend. "

If I felt so strong I would just block single males

Do you not think that the statement on the profile is more than likely aimed at the "fancy a shag?" type messages rather than an innocent and genuine compliment?

Does the OP want or expect a reply?

The question wasn't to the OP - the question was (as quoted) to the poster who replied 'yes' to the question of whether they would send a message and expect a reply from someone who had stated they did NOT want to be contacted by them.

"

No, I dont think I misread the question - I responded in my last post at least to yours.

"But would you send a message to someone who had clearly stated you were NOT the type of person they want to be contacted by?.... and then expect a reply from them?"

Yes, I would - but I understand that is my personal choice.

Let me explain : I am NOT saying I choose profiles and deliberately ignore their preferences. That would be a bit disrespectful in my world.

I AM saying though that sometimes it is possible to miss something (in my case for example a genital piercing as I am not fond of them) Now if I happen to write to somebody and miss something in the process it would be nice for that person to reply as I would politely point out to anybody who writes to me/ us if they had missed something.

Finally, we have actually made a few friends on here this way - initially not a good match but through talking we discovered a shared sense of humour or interest. It is all about being civil and I totally understand that means different things to different people.

"A woman would have to have a heart of stone not to accept a genuine non sexual compliment

That's if they actually read the message before deleting it... after seeing it's from yet another guy ignoring the request for them not to contact her.

I think you might be spot on there. But as Dogmeisters said she might have blocked single males anyway.

So can someone please tell me how that gives me a heart of stone and anything else that's been suggested."

I would like to know the answer to that too as I'm in total agreement with Polo.

It's my experience that a complimentary non-sexual message rarely ends there, especially if you respond, it's seen as an invitation to continue corresponding!

Nope i have seen the profile and in my opinion its a geezer pretending to be a female so he doesn't want other guys mailing him.

Would like to add - I am not into endless email exchanges either and if for example I have told somebody that we are not interested (and I often specify why) THEN i would probably ignore the pestering emails after a max of two exchanges.

I felt actually it was the other way round lol... the fifth post in this thread (your first) you state "you have nothing to loose...."

Glad we managed to speak the same language again - it is the trouble with MSN and forums that we never quite get the non verbal communication AND between different threads we loose bits and pieces xx

the one thing many women will respond to well is a compliment, no matter the context of said compliment, as long as it can be seen to be a compliment,

Nahhhh .... I think he's saying some guys 'expect' to eventually get some payback for giving compliments .... which kinda supports the reasoning behind deleting them when they are obviously from someone outside of the scope of your preferences

So if you respect then you dont mail. Besides if she is that hot she will be getting 100 messages a day. Not sure about this and from a woman's perspective...
