Went at Christmas and yes its safe at the moment.
We won't be going back though - thought everything was untidy (to put it politely. It's like Benidorm but warmer.
Been to Luxor a few times and love it, but never Sharm again.
just my opinion. |

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire) |
Been to sharm twice - never again.
Its dirty. If you do go, take hand gel... and lots of it. Came home ill the first time (presumed just too much drink/rich food as we were all inclusive) second time, all inclusive again, came home with major stomach bug and had 3 months of various antibiotics to kill the infection. Not pleasant. |

same here, was even offering people who were going home the rest of our holiday and cash to try & get out of there.
became so ill we were not allowed to fly and had to stay an extra week.
complained to the travel agent and was told "oh everyone gets it on their first trip, should be alright next time you go"
NEXT TIME???? fook off |

You not game for it lol. I don't blame you, I'd never go back.
And for the record, we stayed in a lovely, exclusive hotel, never ate outwith there, and came home ill. I was worse than my travel companion, but we were both unwell... and having travelled to places like the domincan republic, cuba and mexico with no problems its not like we made a silly mistake. |

Oh I know what you mean! I was lucky the second time that the worst didn't hit until we got home, but I have never felt so wretched in my life. |

made us laugh tho, we had pre booked a flight to cairo to do the museum and onto the pyramids, every time we needed a toilet, there was always a guy at the entrance holding his hand out for money and offering one square of bog roll in return lol. no use at all |

I have been to Sharm and if someone said to me I'd give you a £1,000 spending money and pay for your flights I still wouldn't go back. I have friends who had decent experiences there and its amazing if you like diving, although that is the only redeeming feature I can muster up. |

We would never go back. Hotel was clean . No food poisoning . But felt unsafe outside the resorts . They have tourist police to make sure none go missing and gun turrets outside every hotel ! They count tourists in and out of the towns . You have to have a visa to go travelling to Luxor etc or Cairo . We never felt safe there ! Take hand gel the money is stinking and there is a lot of poverty , begging and cheap rubbish to buy . Better off going to turkey or Spain xx |

OP here is a hint...
Its really cheap!
Add to that the 800 Muslim Brotherhood leaders and supporters sentenced to death today for the killing of 1 policeman last year, plus the 500 sentenced to death last month (sentences commuted to life in prison) for being members of the Muslim Brotherhood...
Sorry forget todays news, take no notice of the political and religious turmoil all over the Middle East, you book your holiday and join all the other white western Christian kafas flaunting their uncovered skin on beaches insulting Islam.
Enjoy your trip and good luck. |

Hurghada is a far better option in our opinion. We have been twice and had a fantastic times.
The marina is up there with the best, very plush. There is a large shopping mall with fixed price shops so you don't get hassled. You are also better placed for trips to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings etc. |

Just looked at the foreign office travel advice for the area.
They say the resort is OK because it has troops and tourist police guarding it but check with your travel agent.
However the whole of South Sinai except for the resorts carry an essential travel only warning. If it were me I would not be going anywhere near an area that has that sort of warning for a holiday. |

I've been there quite a few times the diving out there is amazing....going back quite a few years it was great but when other holidays became more expensive...Sharm became more commercialised.
Watch what you eat and and drink ive always stayed at ocean club basic but good dive packages...ive only ever had a dodgy tummy once out of 5 times. |

been twice and would pack and leave to go again at the drop of a hat.
Follow basic hygiene rules and ok it's all inclusive but beware drink, heat and sun in any hot country don't mix. We stayed on soft drinks and bottled water till dinner. Drink plenty of water during your stay. Every other day I drank a glass of water with a teaspoon of sugar and a small amount of salt. To replace salt lost during the day
I've been to Egypt many times and have NEVER had a days illness or even a slight gippy tummy |
