I must admit to having a smile on my face when he slipped. From a Man City supporters perspective it was the best thing he has done all season.
Man City shouldn't be relying on teams to slip (pardon the pun) up though.

"Still trying to understand why people get so uptight about football , it's only a game afterall .
Jo
It used to be Jo"
It never has only been a game, it's always been a competition fought out on many different levels. It's a sport played in most major cities and towns throughout the UK and that creates rivalries and jealousies which become legend.
It isn't restricted to the top teams either. Followers of Tranmere Rovers have an inbuilt dislike of Chester and Wrexham, especially when they competed with them in the league and no doubt thats true of many other local clubs some of whom haven't played each other in years such as the two Sheffield clubs, Villa & Birmingham, West Brom & Wolves, Celtic & rangers, Hibs & Hearts, Cardiff and Swansea to name just a few.
As a Liverpool fan it causes me no grief whatsoever that fans of other clubs mock his slip yesterday and if in 13 days time he holds aloft the Championship will bemoan that he is and will still cheer as much as I would cheer Rooney if he was to score or hold aloft the World Cup, while many Scottish people would cheer on should he make a fatal error in a World Cup Final.
While I found Chelsea's gamesmanship and time wasting excrutiatingly painful to watch, one has to say that Mourinho did a defensive number on Liverpool yesterday and maybe Rodgers will learn a lesson from that and kill a game for Chelsea in future years just like Rafa has successfully done in the past.
However the next 13 days will show who won a battle and which team wins the war and becomes champions. For what it's worth, I'm convinced that Liverpool will still do it and that City will falter at Everton next week and whatever boring Chelsea do in the next couple weeks they'll fall short of the target due to their own managers fatal mistakes of buying a striker whose age he doesn't know (Eto'o) and failing to buy any other strikers out of his £108 million plus expediture and then like a sulky kid tries to blame others. It's interesting that journalists are starting to wonder aloud whether Mourinho may be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, who knows?? |
