I can see where you are coming from - but how would you know that you are unpopular? I mean sometimes people will support your posts via pm, therefore privately because they dont want to be seen in public to be supportive?

I thought if you block somebody or if blocked by somebody you cannot and should not attempt to contact them or indeed quote them in the forums - I guess it means you cannot communicate with them at all? That is my understanding but I could be wrong |

Actually that makes a lot of sense - that way if two people dont get on (blocked each other etc) - there is no contact and no way they can spark off or get other people involved. |

You know people are blocked by others for very different reasons IMHO - some genuinely don t like you or your opinions or what your profile says about you. Others block you kind of out of "sympathy" for a friend so you are disliked because of your association. Overall I think it is not worth worrying about being blocked because statistically you will only ever be blocked by a tiny tiny minority and there are so many people on the site who you may not have met because they dont post on forums. So dont take a single blocking or two to heart xx |

It is a bit bizarre - in my world once you kind of ended a relationship or have been left/ abandoned etc. it is over - there is no going back really - I would see it as a sign of weakness to go back, I suppose - or maybe an attachment which goes back to an unhappy childhood? Not over-analyising either here dont get me wrong - just kind of pondering x |

I agree. You can often hear people saying. Oh I like them - they speak their mind. But they don't like it at all if someone holds a different opinion to them. They start finding names to call them, threads to start about them and any other reasons for not liking them. Good job some people don't court popularity.
NOW .....those are the ones that get up my nose. The shmarmies..... the arse lickers n boot kissers who all pretend to actually Lurrrrrrrve each other.

If you got your friends, and other people you banter and talk to - who gives a fuck what everyone else thinks??
I once had a time last year when a now RIP member was posting stuff about me on the forums,
I took it in the good jest it was meant - yet others (no mentioning names here) were horrorfied and were pm'ing joker and being rather horrid.
I didnt care - and will even join in about jokes agaisnt myself - lets face it - if you cant laugh at yourself - you have no right to laugh at others.
If people get the wrong impression of me, well hell, wont be the first time and wont be the last.
At the end of the day i am ME - and my dear friends know who i am, and to me THATS what counts, not on how many virtual buddies i can pretend to be mates with on a web site.
On saying that - all the banter is good, and if it means keeping things on a positive level, i tend to ignore the people who tend to pull things down, and billy up the people who tend to be more playful and want the fun side of things.

thats perceptive of you ,i have been on fabs since before it shut down and restarted up under the current owners,I have in that time seen a lot of people come and go,seen a lot of flame wars and cyberturf allegiances .It always makes me smile when i hear people constantly digging into others they have never met.
I have seen arch enemies online become buddies on meeting and the other way around,one thing is for certain ,its a fucking swingsite not the centre of the universe and if its the centre of your life maybe thats something you should reflect on,I know i did

Whata great mantra - I subscribe to that.
Also - looking at what some people wrote about being yourself, being honest etc might sounds like a popular trait but sometimes is not well received if it does not agree with others... Now on that note, I feel as long as you own a statement as yours - you can have any opinion you like. It is when people, in the moment of a passionate debate, make genetral statemenmts about what is right and wrong - that is when healthy debates start turning into arguments and sometimes become personal.
Now I dont like housework - and I dont care what anybody else says - it is a futile activity which stops me from doing what I like most .......;-) |
