My bedroom door lock has slipped it something it did it before and I slid my bank card down and it opened but this time I am locked in my bedroom and bank card not worked
It's just a normal wooden door with normal handle but handle isn't moving the catchy bit that goes in the hole in the door frame
I got my kids in bed will it work if they use my bank Card the other side of the door in the morning bearing in mind they are small children
Plus what happens if something happens I am locked in my bedroom
Anyone know how I can open my door please ? |

"does the handle on the other side work? i know its of no help to you now but as it has done it before did it work on the other side once you got out? if so get the kids to just use the handle"
No it not working either side but last time it did this the bank card worked the other side

Browse for a single male, one'll be keen to be round in a couple of mins.
I doubt the card would work from the other side. It sounds like the innards have failed, if you can unscrew the door fastening you'll be able to open the door and remove/replace the fastening. |

Yes I worry what possibly could happen |

gotta say, kickin it in was my first thought but i guess that could be distressing for sleeping kids, not to mention a few quid to replace |

Somewhere in North Norfolk |
Could the fire brigade, or someone with a ladder, get to your window? Is the window big enough to get through, or could someone at least pass you the tools you need to sort the problem out?
Something to remove the handle and pliers or molegrips to turn the central part of the door handle might do it. |

Does anyone else have a key to your place? If so call them and get them to come over and get you out.

Sometimes have a spit bit which holds the handles on they can some times work loose which can cause the handle on one side not work, the easiest thing is to unscrew that side, failing that call the fire brigade or someone to help |

Ok
I went thru my toy box and found a metal thing but it won't unscrew the door handle it's nt got screws I can see more like a little hole under the handle
My keys are in my front door on my side which is locked
Only thing I can think of is try wake my six year old up and see if she can make bank Card work the other side |

have you got your house keys in the room with you?
ring a friend. get them round with tools. throw the keys to them and they can let themselves in and unscrew door furniture from outside. or ultimately kick door open from outside.
if the door opens into the bedroom you will injure yourself trying to charge it as the frame will stop the door from opening. |

If you can call someone local, call them first now before it gets too late
A problem shared etc.....
Next, are any windows open for someone you know to get through for you??
If not, as others have said, it's time to either contact the fire brigade or non emergency police for advice.....it's not a great situation through the day but even more distressing for you all through the night!
Hope you get sorted VERY soon xx |

They just need to get the necessary tools in to you.
I'd call someone now, be it a local friend, the police or the fire service. You don't want to be locked in your room all night, especially with small children in the house. |

Good plan. I hope you get it sorted out.
Even if I wasn't up, I'd get up to help someone local in this situation.
If I was more local to you I'd have volunteered to come over. |

I got locked in my bedroom last year. After hanging out of an upstairs window, I eventually found a pair of scissors. They did the trick. Check your bag etc, and see if you have anything thats stiff and thin. |

Do you have a hammer and something hard to knock out the pins from the hinges, could use the metal pin from an electrical plug, then anything heavy to hit it with, a boot or if you have any wights, even chair or desk leg. then the door will come away from the frame, easily.

Ring 101 and ask them to get someone over to you...with there being a child in the house I would imagine they'd get out there pretty sharpish, but not sure if it'd be classed as a 999 emergency. If your daughter can let them in the front door I'm sure they can then get your bedroom door open for you. Hope you get sorted soon |

If the door opens in towards you take a coat hanger and use the metal hook slide it down till it hooks behind the latch and pull it. As long as the inners havent jammed it will work if the have jamed smash the door |

"I'd have been stuffed since I don't have any wire coathangers.
Then again I have tools in every room of the house!"
Same here but next time I collect dry cleaning, I'll be keeping one in every room now!
Really glad you got this sorted. I was getting worried as I read this thread.
Thank you jfromkent! |

glad your free.
now, when you wake up, and have got the kids off and away, dismantle the gubbins out of the lock, not just tape it up as the tape can come off.
just leave yourself a handle. |
