Heh, I remember Arthur being on telly a lot during the miners' strikes. He used to scare me when I was a kid. I think it was the fact he always looked so angry, and his red hair made him appear to have a short temper.

I'm sure he's a lovely man in real life.

Lovely a Labour supporter, I adored the miners and understood why they had to stike, my dad had a milkround in Barnsley at the time of the strike and continued to deliver though it pretty-much backrupted him as they couldn't pay. So proud of my dad, so proud of the miners, not so proud that that particular Arthur remained in his huge house, collecting his salary, whilst his men and their families starved.

Some battles are worth fighting, that one was, but not a good idea to fight when your head's in your own arse and you're listening to no-one! Huge respect the to miners and still so sorry that they were so badly led into an abyss that never got any less steep for many communities!
