Only got plans have my morning jogging cos Only I cant sleep. On my eyes on my way I saw how small car hit the tree and lamp. Alone on the street nobody can help. I didnt know how strong I can be to keep control and take that man from car to safe position made cpr .and that guy who pass us by bike and dont help. After minutes one car with lady and her son they stop cos cant drive and help me. Ambulance police.
Im back to home I crying just have to take off that from me. I never touch person and have to decided did he breath or no.
First time in my life I had to use heart massage in real.
Why people driving to fast .. sure cos 40 mph its to slow on town.
Why that man on bike pass over me and didt stop . Cos what.. f* work on stable was more important than help for life

Well done you!
I passed my First Aid exams in late November and within a week was attending to a guy who had fallen in the street and literally split open his skull
Those 10 minutes waiting for an ambulance seemed like an eternity, but afterwards the task hit me! Mixed emotions. |

Well done. I hope you're having a strong tea with sugar or something . I imagine you are shocked .
I did CPR on a family member 14 years ago & still remember it vividly .
I hope the man you helped will be ok & you should be proud of yourself . Take it easy and give someone a ring to share what happened as it's a big thing that you've been involved with. Take care. x |

Well done you. Fantastic! It's not easy touching an unconscious stranger - I know, especially doing mouth to mouth, if that's what you did, its very contrary to all natural instincts. Lots of people think they can do it but cant when it comes to it. Some cant even get involved at any level (bike man).Don't worry about the crying, it's a natural emotional release. Get your best friend round for a cuppa and tell them about it. When you've done that relise how lucky the casualty was that it was you who happened to be going by, that you were able to respond to the challenge and be proud of what you have done for the rest of your life - well done! |

What a wonderful thing you did for a person who is very important to someone else.
Just so that the folks reading this are kept up to date, research says there is no reason to do mouth to mouth at all. Heart compressions are enough IF the heart has stopped.
Always call for help before you start and keep going but don't put yourself in danger. |

I had a man keel over off his bike in front of me once and had to do CPR on him, I have no idea if he survived or not.
Its a very brave thing to do and you should be proud of yourself for helping when others didnt. I do think some support should be offered when members of the public stand up and do their bit like this. |

To answer your question as to why the guy on bike never stopped let me give you one reason.
A guy who worked for me witnessed an accident one morning where a young lad driving too fast hit a tree. There car was severely damaged and lad unconcious. There was petrol leaking from car so the guy quickly got the lad out of car and began cpr until police and paramedics arrived unfortunately the lad was pronounced dead at the scene.
Now youd think the guy would be hailed a hero but no. The police began adking questions why he got lad from car. Why didnt he attend to him inside. They said his actions may have killed the lad said he could face manslaughter charges. They kept him waiting for 2 weeks before telling him no charges against him. So maybe one reason why people pass by |

Sadly this is not uncommon in such cases.
It has also been known, as another example, for people whose lives were saved by chest compressions to then sue the person who saved them for breaking ribs in the process! And it's very common to break ribs when performing chest compressions.
I can understand why someone wouldn't get involved. I don't think I could pass by but I can understand why some would. |

I think the law has been, or will shortly be, changed to prevent this.
To the OP. Outstanding job, you should be proud of your efforts. |

Thank you for all replays and hugs.
That young man is on theatre at the moment. Still waiting for news.
It was just instinct to take him from the car. I dont think about leaks another things.
I have first aider course done 5 y ago.but I never use that.
I spoke on the phone with his mother. I just answer her ..nobody rescue my child 7 years ago in car accident now maybe ur child will be alive.
Its only instinct. I m silly. I touch car I dont think about leaks.
Now I know what does it mean one minute like an hour.
Only I want to know he will be ok.
I didnt know about my reactions. I didn't know how cold emotional I can be.
Now waiting for police. Due to medicines from doctor for calm me down they will come to my house for rest information.

During CPR training we're told you cannot be prosecuted for trying to save someone's life.
Well done OP. The excess adrenalin has now lent itself to shock. Keep warm, plenty of fluids, and talk to someone close. Be proud xxx |

Great news and we'll. Done again! x
Just to clarify on the prosecution issue - you can't be prosecuted for providing first aid.
A few tips: Dont remove a casualty from a vehicle unless there is an immediate risk to their life as there is a significant risk of spinal injury. Don't assume that a crashed vehicle will catch fire unless you see signs (more than fuel spillage.)
If the casualty is unconscious and not breathing they need immediate CPR which can only be done while they are lying down and on a hard surface.
If they are breathing and there is no immediate life risk, assume a spinal injury and support their head and neck with a hand on other sides of the neck / head. Do this from outside the vehicle if you can as even slight movement from you getting in could cause further injury.
If you do need to move the casualty out of the vehicle try and keep the spine aligned by supporting the head and neck as best as you can - very difficult to do in reality and will need at least two people.
At an accident, don't put a casualty in your car -if the emergency services suspect that they have a spinal injury your car roof will be cut off - and it does happen!!

Very true - no one in the uk has ever been prosecuted for attempting to be a Good Samaritan. Only people who run the risk of being sued are medical professionals and only if they exhibited clinical negligence - exactly as would be the case in their professional roles on duty.
In France they have a Good Samaritan law. Failing to render assistance is a criminal act. Not sure if that's the way to go, some people simply aren't equipped to deal with such situations and forcing them into one could have serious and negative impacts on them.
As for the OP - well done and be proud of what you did. You did great and again, be proud.
Talk about and don't bottle it up - unless you deal with these kind of situations frequently they can be difficult to cope and come to terms with. If you find yourself having trouble sleeping or reoccurring dreams go see your GP and explain what happened. Normally however any sleep disturbance or abnormal dream pattern should subside on their own in a week or two. If not you may have a touch of something called Post Traumatic syndrome. It's nowhere near as bad as post traumatic shock, more a case of your brains fight or flight instinct has been disturbed. Talking things through with a trained councillor normally all that's needed to get things back on an even keel. |

You did an amazing thing. It's sad that he didn't make it in the end. You would do it again though, because you're that kind of person, in this world there are people that will and there are people that won't. Think about it from the other side, if he was your dad, would you be thankful that a stranger stopped to help? Of course you would, because it's comforting to know that SOMEONE cared enough stop, and grateful because you got to say goodbye. You should feel proud x

"Good job. A successful CPR is rare, but very satisfying."
This is true, the survival rate of people that suffer a cardiac arrest outside of a hosp is only about 12% in the UK I think, don't quote me! |

You did the right thing, but sadly nothing more you can do for this gent.
Now, look after yourself. You've been through a very traumatic experience, even if you don't think so. It's always good to talk these things through. Speak to your GP if you have the slightest hint that you're not coping.
There is no shame in it. Those of us who face this kind of situation day in and out, despite our own personal defensive mechanisms, can still be affected. If you don't deal with this kind of thing often I'd be more worried if you weren't upset by it.
You should be proud for what you did. You did the right thing instinctively in a difficult situation, not everyone would. |

You gave him 6 extra days of life, time for his family to say goodbye. To them I'm sure that would mean the world. You did an amazing thing Hun but in life when your times up it's up. Don't look at it in a negative way please, although it's upsetting you gave his family a gift in the end. Mwah xxxx |
