Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

The thread on how you read forum posts has morphed into a discussion about Synesthesia. That got me thinking about the things we take for granted and assume everyone senses things in the same way.

Until the sounds in my ears changed I didn't realise I have always had tinnitus. I thought everyone heard the long ping of electricity. That's what I thought the noise was growing up.

What's yours?

I see stupidity. It's really depressing because you see it everyday and everywhere.

Where were you belittling tinnitus? I was just giving my example.

My other one is I see "floaters" a lot. I didn't realise that other people don't have funny black squiggles running through the things they see for a very long time.

Yes I didn't realise that not everyone heard the sound of the universe which is what I thought the noise was lol. It's only very mild with me though thank goodness.

I think this just proves that we all have our own normal

I had glasses when I was about 11. Up until then, I assumed everybody saw things like I did (blurry until close up). I was truly amazed and cried happy tears when the optition done his thing with the funny glasses and lenses. I kept looking over my glasses and then through them for days, as I couldn't believe it.

I have had migraines all of my life. Thankfully I only get really bad attacks once a year or so now.

I hope yours are OK now.

No worries it would have been good advice for her 15 years ago. Body energy is another fascinating subject but one for another day I think.

"can a person who is blind and always have been visualise things mentally based on what they can feel?"

If you have always been blind as in complete absence of sight you have no way of visualising in terms of seeing I imagine, so your terms of reference will be the senses that you do have. I think anyway

Don't know. Could be static electricity depends on the context in which it happens really. Is all lifts? Plastic buttons and metal buttons? Indoors and outdoors (like car parks), inside and outside the lift? Only lifts?

I've also had mild tinnitus for years. I was at Uni when I first became aware of its constant presence. I had experienced ringing in my ears after heavy metal concerts throughout my youth or a night clubbing. When the low level hissing whistle became permanent, I assumed that the loud music had damaged my hearing and caused it.

My mother does this! Can't let her use a smart phone or computer, even the microwave isn't really safe, and she builds static, worse in supermarkets, will deliberately zap rude people!
