Why is it frightening? As long as it tastes alright and I don't get food poisoning I'm happy.

From what I'm led to believe, the only thing close to rat meat is duck. And how they can suggest that chicken is used as a substitute for lamb is ridiculous. Chicken meat is, let's say, distinctive, isn't it? |

It was reported on the BBC and lbc (I don't listen but someone had it on) as well the mail, express and star (I don't read those papers but they did report it) that various cheaper meats including beef, cat dog and yes rat among other un identified meat was used in the lamb curries in 40% of Indian restaurants |

Horse meat itself is quite nice. I had some when I was on holiday in Italy in the '70s. To me, it just tasted like a super-lean slice of roast beef. And yes, I'd knowingly eat it again. |

I rest my case - The Mail, being the right-wing racist rag it is, and you call the Star a newspaper? Plus the Express has recently been exposed for giving financial support to UKIP, so it's no surprise these rags will be creative with the truth, and worse still, their ranting, gullible readers actually believe it. |

I actually wonder if I have eaten rat and not known. About 20 years ago, while I was working in Soho, I went to a Chinese cafe near Leicester Square for their lunchtime special of roast duck and rice. The duck meat did seem a lot bonier than I later experienced with duck, so on reflection, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was rat that was served up instead. |

Sorry tibby - to answer your question properly, I wouldn't knowingly eat rat, cat or dog (in other words, if I was made to know it was either of those animals before eating, then I would flatly refuse). |
