THe AV s/w doesn't expect to find a rooted OS so it reports as above. Its not a problem persae. unless you dont wanted a rooted OS for some strange reason. if you had a real problem then AVG would let you know and as it hasnt just accept the message as normal. and use it. |

Hi there, it sounds like your tablet may have had a customised version of its operating system installed, instead of the default one which they normally ship with.
This is called "Rooting" and is usually done in order to allow an end-user to have more control over the device, and to offer many more choices when it comes to software which can be installed upon it.
However, there are a couple of downsides: installing a non-standard version of the firmware (or operating system) will invalidate the warranty, and there's also a small risk that you could inadvertently install some malicious software if you're not using vetted sources.
Having said that though, I do think the pro's outweigh the con's. Not only does running a rooted firmware offer you a lot more flexibility, but it also provides a chance to be on the cutting edge of software - you won't have to wait for the tablet manufacturer to release updates, as the rooted firmware writers are usually pretty keen on releasing regular updates and hot fixes.
