What's your oldest possession? Mine is a little yellow teddy that my aunt knitted for my birth. He was in the cot at the hospital with me & now he sits with snoopy (which was my mum's before she had me ) on my bookshelf guarding my whisky |

I have nothing from childhood, not even pictures.
The oldest thing I have is my first bra, black all-over lace underwired. My mother was not happy.
The signs were there even at 13. |

I have 2 precious and old items. The first is my great-grandmothers wedding ring which is now my wedding ring, the second a teddy around 3ft tall that was given to me whilst still in hospital as a baby. It sits on top of my wardrobe now. |

Today I used a piece of my dad's tupperware, manufactured circa 1960. That is in my possession. If you mean something which is exclusively mine then it's a knitted doll my great auntie made me as a baby. It's in the loft at present though! |

A locket belonging to my great-grandmother, the picture inside is of her mother.
She was not a well woman when she visited me in hospital just after my birth. Apparently she lent over to look at me and then collapsed to the floor, never to regain consciousness. Somehow the locket fell from her neck into my cot and later was found by a nurse.
It was put with my baby stuff and was given to me on my 21st.
How ugly was I as a new born to cause cardiac arrest in an old lady. Some say I haven't changed that much! |

Oldest thing i have is my nan's bible, she was given it by the Cadbury family (yes the chocolate quakers) when she married my grandad. In those days Cadbury's believed married women belonged in the home so as soon as she married she became unemployed so to speak. They are given a bible as a leaving momento.
My own mother is 80 so i'm estimating 100+ years for the bible |

I have a small bible that belonged to my great grandfather. It's about 3" x 5", very battered and used. he carried it with him during ww1 (not 2). For possibly predictable reasons he never spoke much about it, at least to me, a small child when he was alive, but I remember that he was in a heavy machine gun regiment of some sort. If only that bible could talk! |

A teddy bear I picked out all by myseI at disney world when I was maybe about 5 or 6. I wasnt super sentimental about it really as an adult, I just manage to hold on to it through the years. A few years ago after I had to have emergency surgery my son who was 6 at the time came into my hospital room and said look mom I brought your bear. He thought I needed it for comfort. I have a new love for it again |

I have a set of cuttings from Scottish regional newspapers from the 1940's-1950's, which I discovered on clearing my late father's effects after his death 9 yrs ago.
They all report in detail, my father's growing reputation as a Sprinter at all the amateur athletics events around Scotland at that time, especially on the Highland Games "circuit". He once even came 2nd in the Powderhall Sprint; a major achievement at a prestigious event then! |

I've an Irish doll my dad brought back from Ireland when he did a work exchange for the company he worked for when I was about 3 yrs old and I still have her even though the elastic has disintegrated.
I still have the rabbit I was given the day I was born.
I also have my mums old sewing machine she bought with money from her first job and she is 80 yrs old now.
I also have a fan I bought when I was in my twenties just because it was pretty but it's possible dating back to Edwardian times.
None of which are worth any money even though they are all over 50 yrs old but I guess that's because they were all mass produced. |

The oldest possession in my family (I don't have it, it gets passed round) is my high chair...hand made by my Dad's best mate and currently in use with my great nephew and great niece. I recently gave away my old standard lamp which my parents got as a wedding present (52 or 53 years ago) and it has a new lease of life in a friend's house after being refurbished and probably my oldest possession is a lock of my baby hair (yes, it's ginger) |
