If anyone else lives in the weston super mare area and remembers the cider farm just down from RAF Locking, they used to sell scrumpy at £5 a gallon.

It was straight out of the vats, still had bits in it, and still fermenting! You had to drink it quick or the plastic container burst.

"Snakebite, the stuff should not be sold ."

Just out of interest - why do you think it shouldn't be sold? It's a myth that it's any stronger because of mixing the two together - chemically, it would only be as strong as the stronger of the two liquids, lager or cider. Many cocktails are a mixture of more than one alcoholic ingredient, and they're sold and consumed without a problem (apart from the overall effect of the alcohol content).

The Firkin Breweries finest!

There was a stronger brew - can't recall what it was called - but lost many a weekend to the Dog!

"If anyone else lives in the weston super mare area and remembers the cider farm just down from RAF Locking, they used to sell scrumpy at £5 a gallon.

It was straight out of the vats, still had bits in it, and still fermenting! You had to drink it quick or the plastic container burst.

One mouthful of that stuff, was enough to put me off cider for life!!

Christ I remember that when I was at RAF locking... Deadly
