I am a Mancunian born and bred and a United fan. I love the banter I have with Liverpudlians and Evertonian friends of which I have many.

However today is a day of remembrance for the 96 ordinary football fans who left home to watch their football team and never returned home. A very sad day but due to the tenacity and remembrance of loving families their memory will live on and as a small comfort to the bereaved justice will be done, eventually.

To all true football fans today

At the fateful time to your god pray

For those who left their home with a smile

Only for their souls to be placed on trial.

Their only aim was to watch their team.

A day out or so it would seem.

Precious lives taken with no reason or rhyme

Rest in peace those who now watch from afar

Looking down on the beautiful game from a shinning star.

RIP

I think they are starting games 7 minutes late, to match the time for when the match that killed 96 football supporters got stopped.

Do you want to say that to the families of the 96 sorry but I think your cause is beginning to be a pain in the arse as I have to put my life and mouth on hold for 7 minutes.....hillsbrough was an huge miscarriage of justice....cover ups and corrupted people and people sought the truth as to their relatives death...I mean really what a really insensitive thing to say that it's beginning to become a pain in the arse

As you say the games will be delayed by seven minutes as a mark of respect.

It was an attempt at showing that the wider football family recognise that on a traditional footballing (semi final) Saturday the innocent victims are remembered. As a football fan who attends games (all over the world) with my son it could have been us. Its about ordinary people just doing life and paying with their life for no good reason.

Its only a delayed kick off, just get to the game a bit later shouldn't make any difference to you really.

When it happened the football community came together then too, there were so many different football scarves laid at Anfield with the flowers.

I think they could have all been thinking the same thing, it could well have been them.

I think after the last years events and the inquest going on right now then it will even more poignant this year

As a born and bred Scouser and Liverpool supporter 3.07pm on the 15th April 1989 marked the lowest point in a glorious, checkered and tragic period in my beloved Club's history. For most of the ensuing period we have been a city in mourning, tinged with guilt and often the butt of vitriol and vilification. Last year brought considerable relief, as the world was confronted with the real truth of the Hillsborough tragedy and a glimpse of the horrendous suffering of the families of the 96. While the sword of justice is yet to be wielded the 3.07pm tribute today and tomorrow and next week's memorial service are fitting symbols. They remind us that by grace we didn't lose someone close to us in similar tragedies and for those who have, a chance to remember the life of a loved one so tragically cut short.

He's too young to remember the horrors of that day. But to show such disrespect and crassness is unforgivable. Let's hope he never has to witness,or be affected by, such tragedy.

What some people seem to forget this could have happened to supporters of any club. Before Hillsborough fans were treated like animals, herded into pens like cattle. I used to travel all over the country watching Man United, including visiting Hillsborough several times, standing on terraces was a nightmare at times. So I think a slight delay to kick-Off times this weekend isn't a great hardship is it.

Angus & Findhorn

a well deserved tribute

people will have an alternative _iew and that should also be respected. many comments are made about untimely death, not always respectful depending on who you are, what you do, your background & celebrity.

In this case, it is the injustice and pain that causes.

sleep well and I hope the injustice will soon be resolved.

Their families probably could have moved on if justice had of been reached in the first place, instead of all the cover Ups.

Ok as normal on this type of thread it ended up with abuse thrown.

If you can't post without abusing then the forum is not for you.

Now please, let's get back to what the thread was intended for....if you want to discuss anything else then start another thread.

This is so very true. 96 innocent people lost their lives and the establishment for the most part covered up their own negligence and incompetence. If justice had been served then the healing process would have ensued but it has not. The lady with scales will always win in a free and democratic society it make time and the courage of those who have the guts to fight but she will come calling to those who are guilty.
