The land of grey peas and bacon

That's the amount that are waiting to be adopted...I'm watching a programme on ch4 and I want to adopt most that have appeared....it's really sad that they have not got a large resource of adoptive parents....However I'm lead to believe that it's a long and quite hard process to become an adoptive parent...

Its absolutely tearing my heart up. The kids are gorgeous and deserve to be safe, loved and treasured as all children should be.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I'm not watching it but I have explored adoption before.

It is a long process and you need to be vetted, go through the counselling and the matching process. You'd want the child that wants you and that you want to get on with each other wouldn't you?

Its incredibly sad but I do worry at times people see them as an appendage to a family and not a child with its own needs. They are not a handbag or a designer lamp as some celebrities who adopt come across as seeing them as.

I have to agree....I guess I'm too open minded to look for the perfect child I guess if that makes sense

bristol

its the process that prevents the children being adopted ...friends of ours had 'minded' a child for 6 years as his mother was a prostitute and used to leave him in hotel rooms when she was working ..they brought him back to the uk and intragated him into their family with always the promise that on their next visit back to africa ...as soon as she could have him she would ...as soon as the court wheels started turning she was here to get him like a shot ...he had no idea who she was and her taking him away was heartbreaking !
