"I thought the internet rule was to get to a post about Hitler/Nazis IN the thread not start with him/them?

A bit of a taboo subject in Germany : tho that taboo has recently been broken with the release of a new book about him.
Not your standard biography, the book sees him coming back to life after 70 years and pursuing a career as a stand up comedian.
I believe it is to be published in English too |

I heard the review and it sounds interesting and entirely plausible.

"Strangely enough in 1938 - he was Times Magazine's Man of the Year !
Power went to his head and thought he could take on the world "
He did.
Just didn't get as far as he'd liked to
We gave him some of his most radical ideas anyway : empire building and concentration camps being but two.
He just took 'em to another level ! |

Perhaps we can find some bike sheds and hunker down to read it in secret together?

Speaking of Comedy Genius (and yes, the capitals are deserved), the German comedian, Henning Wehn's last tour here was entitled, 'My Struggle' a joke that probably not everyone got. |

Apparently, he had the same grasp of Latin as i do.
Re another post higher up, my grandad (mom's side) was German and fought in and survived the war. At the end of the day he was a lovely human being.

"What a knob!!
"
He had a distinct lack of imagination. He stole all his beliefs from the Indian culture; Aryan, swastika, vegetarianism, etcetra,etcetera...his charisma was phenomenal and managed to convince an entire nation to adopt and crusade evil. It was a terrible waste of misguided inspiration. If he was a good guy, this world would have been a very different place. Unfortunately , he was a knob. |

A point of balance, some reading of History suggests, nay states, that the second world war was a consequence of the onerous conditions placed upon the Germans by the Allies after WW1.
Cause and effect of evil.
One need only look at such as our current "Mid East Peace Envoy" to know that things don't change that much.
Maybe the reverse process has started?

Indeed, to a certain degree, we are all knobs. |
