"Him helwig has died aged 54
One of the most intense wrestlers and had some great battles against Hulk hogan and the undertaker" should read Jim Helwig |

this was his last speech on Raw on monday night...
"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper in others something larger than life, then his essence, and his spirit will be immortalized by the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You are the legend makers of ultimate warrior. In the back, I see many potential legends, some with in their Warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they will live with passion and intensity, so much so that you will tell your stories and make them legends as well. I am Ultimate Warrior. You are the ultimate warrior fans. And the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever."
kinda prophetic now....... |

Ultimate Warrior was less a wrestler and more a way of life. Some of you might want to check out his website. A mix of self help politics and philosophy.
A larger than life character in many ways |

Saddened to hear this ... Was a great achievement for him to be added into the Hall Of Fame at wrestlemania , made him very happy and the crowd went wild at his speech! Can't believe he died so soon after.

I know... Sky are showing the highlights from the "hall of fame" ceremony tonight, and it is going to be weird watching his induction speech from saturday night knowing he is no longer with us.... |

As an ex wrestler He was the inspiration for me as a 10 year old watching wm4 on sky. I think it wasnt live though. For yeara I wanted to be as wild and strong and kick ass. Fast forward 15 years and Im texting Jake roberts and rubbing shoulders with guys from the uk wrestling heyday and even worked with a young Daniel Brian under his American Dragon gimmick. Warrior was an inspiration throughout that whole period but he kept it up. I got fat!
The devotion to his cause and his family are unreal, the conservatism stuff he didwas a tad rednwck but that waned in the end.
Great feuds, a few stellar matches and the mentallist promos ever.!!!
The biggest loss to wrestling since cris benoits family.
Warrior for life!

Read this earlier today on Facebook and just couldn't believe it. Only just watched him at the hall of fame ceremony before wrestlemania. My best memory has always been wrestlemania 6 where he beat hogan
Rest in peace Ultimate Warrior..... |

"Sad loss at such an early age.
But we all know this form of combat is not real; right?"
If course we know its not real, the same as eastenders, hollyoaks and all the other soaps and most films.
But their bodies take a battering and it takes skill to do. Its sports entertainment |

I haven't seen the HOF induction yet... but when watching RAW he was visibly struggling to get to the ring and into it... he was very passionate in his speech and it was amazing to see him shake the ropes one last time. I wouldn't be shocked if it comes to light that they knew he was terminally ill. There was a lot of waer under the bridge between him and the authority at WWE, and it was set aside unexpectedly....
oops. .. I just exposed my inner geek |

A terrible shame... I loved the WWF back in the early 90s, although it ended up being banned by our school, as we all used to have pretend wrestling matches during lunch. Which was fine until some lad got a tooth knocked out after a poorly timed Mr Perfect syle perfect-plex...
Goes to show how steroids mess people up though. |

Its a sad price to pay for the entertainment they enjoy for themselves and their fans. They know the risks and the things they put into their bodies could eventually kill them.
Sad, yes.....surprised, no. |

Nobody over the age of 10 believes it's real
The elaborate storylines with well defined characters that pit good v evil with the crowd encouraged to boo or cheer their favourites it is extremely physical and tightly choreographed
Americans don't have panto |

It is meant to be theatre that's why they call it sports entertainment
But that doesnt mean I should be any less excited by it than some peeps are about other fiction xx |

people shout abuse at 'baddies' in soap operas, while out doing their shopping, all the time
some people live their lives through those they see on tv.
if the warrior or hogan or typhoon and so on, reached one person, and vicariously made their life a little more bareable, or indeed pushed them to improve their lot and make something of themselves, well, the legend will live on, and anyone in this media, that is held in such high regard, can hold themselves highly for the sacrifices they have made in the name of sports entertainment. |

AHhh don't forget the eye candy too " I am sure the ladies are well pleased with the shape and sizes on show but its just plain American rubbish which has been manufactured to provide "entertainment" My worry is that so many on Fab seem to take it seriously! |

"Sure I saw him lift Andre the Giant over his head.
Fake or not that's pretty impressive"
I think it was more of a body slam, but not many did that to Andre The Giant. He did gorilla press Hulk Hogan though (and countless others).
Sad to see this, Ultimate Warrior was the most explosive character back in the late 80's early 90's. I remember my older brother ordering the imported Silver Vision VHS (through the post of course) for us...always exciting when it showed up weeks later.
Loved watching it back then with Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura commentating, very old school.
RIP |

"My worry is that so many on Fab seem to take it seriously!"
You can be interested in something and take it seriously as a mode of entertainment without believing it's literally real. The same way you do for any fictional TV programme. Wrestling is a soap opera with pretend fighting thrown in. |
