"Apparently it was dark and he didn't know if his girlfriend was in bed or not!!!....oh please. What's the forums opinion. Loose cannon I think"
I understand he said that they were in bed together, then he got up to get a fan, then heard a noise in the bathroom and didn't realise she wasn't in bed. Sadly, a cultural example of 'shoot first, ask questions second'. |

"He has a history of being a loose cannon.....
Why would an intruder hide in the bathroom? ?" or be using the bathroom l every good thief uses the toilet before they escape , rob or murder you . If it was mistaken identity l why four shots . Surely one and realise its a mistake ? |

Agree totally. If he thought an intruder was in the house you would check your partner was ok then suggest she hide, preferably not in the bathroom |

"If he screamed, and screams were heard by neighbours 70 metres away why did Reeva not respond..damming evidence by his own evidence
It might have been her screams?"
exactly, and that is why he is a murderer |

"he is certainly remorseful
I think most people would be remorseful looking at the semtentce he's potentially got in front of him."
agree, think Pistorius is crying for himself more than remorse..he murdered her |

Could be shooting myself in the foot here...no pun intended...but that is why a jury is the best option. They have no jury in SA just the judge...maybe that is why it's being played out on worldwide TV, corruption, bribe etc....jury would be best but not in SA and apparently in other countries. How can one person make that decision I really don't know |

I haven't been watching or keeping up to date but my gut instinct was guilty although I know that doesn't make it necessarily true but I'm sticking with it.
One thing for sure is that it's a tragic loss - I'm not really into blondes but she was hot and from what I knew of her before this kicked off she seeme like a decent person. |

Just my opinion but I have to say guilty, and here is my reasoning:
It does not matter if he meant to do it or not...
It does not matter if he was frightened or not...
It does not matter if he was d*unk or not...
It does not matter if he is contrite or not...
He took a gun and fired at an unidentified target with the knowledge that that action may cause injury. As a result of that deliberate action he killed an innocent person and is therefore guilty. The fact that he has a history of recklessly discharging a firearm in a public place shows his disregard for others and in my opinion should be considered to be an aggravating rather than mitigating factor. |

"I don't know.
What I do know is this media circus and trial by media is fucking abhorrent."
i couldnt agree more
let justice be done but not in front of the cameras and nightly specials on sky news. |

To a large degree we get the media coverage we deserve. Not enough of us use the off button, of every time the coverage started we turned off and e mailed to say why it would change overnight. I don't do it but I might start |

Its hard to say what he really thought but living in South Africa its very different from here and people are far more concious of their security as its a far more violent there. |

"I used to live in Africa the system is fucked! House robbery is the scarest thing there (let me tell you). I agree every country needs a jury! "
if that's the case maybe he should have spent more money on security instead of guns? |

I find it odd that she locked herself into the bathroom in the middle of the night when it was just the two of them in the house. We, as a couple in a house on our own, would never bother with locking the bathroom door. |

If it was a poor black South African who shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door, he would already be serving life.
Amazing what wealth and celebrity status can do..... even in a courtroom!
He will walk free even if he is guilty! |

I think he is a very mixed up man ... And his own past and what's gone on has made him the person he is and maybe his mind play games with him . Maybe there mental problems too. He killed her and theres no getting away from that . |

Did anyone see the crime scene photos (and I don't mean of the victim)... The weapon used in the hands of a police officer who wasn't wearing gloves, items from the bedroom placed on the bed covers to take the photos(not taken in situ as they should be).
I can't say he murdered her, but a good chance to get off on a technicality |

he does seem like a man with a lot of anger and issues. and a unhealthy interest in guns I know there is a gun culture in SA and guns are used for protection but surly there is no need to use hollow point bullets.
One thing that seems more strange than anything else that she had locked herself in the bathroom , if you were in a house with you and your partner and needed the bathroom in the middle of the night would you lock the bathroom door behind you ? it seems like they were arguing and she locked herself in , but it's only assumption I know. |

The security forces are corrupt. They set up half the house robberies and the police are just as bad. |

Like said its a whole different lifestyle down there how many of the people on here have been to SA or lived there???
The last bloke to that lived there slept with a colt 45 under his pillow a shot gun under the bed, all fully loaded and up in the attic, last line of defence an AK47 and two oozies. its a war zone down there depending on where you live. The guy showed me some pics of the guns and his fortress (the attic) and the 8ft wall around the house and the bars on the windows and doors.
None of us where there, none of us really know what happened, just lots of press reports and hear say.
