hung parliament is when NO party has an overall majority. Therefore party's have to form alliances in order to get that majority.
Next few days there will be a lot of horsetrading in order to form a coalition government.
Historically, when there has been a hung Parliament in the UK there has always been another general election within the first year.
Conservatives are so far the largest party with 289 seats, Labour 245, Libs 51 |

Theres a fight for control of the country ,you got the tory gang ,the labour gang who are gonna slug it out.
The tory gang is only a bit bigger than labout ..but if the tiny liberal gang and a few individual watchers join either the tory or labour gang they will win .
the liberal gang are waiting to see which gang offers them the most to join em ..and whoever they join if they step out of line the libs will change sides and let the other side kick ass.
sad isnt it |

It's because we have a "first past the post" system of voting.
Therefore the person with the most votes (and it only needs be one more than their nearest rival) on the night wins that seat.

but it does prove to me whats the point in voting, cos if i had voted for the winning gang, but then there was not enough seats so it fucks up my vote meant nothing eh. why dont they just go with votes and sort out the seating arragment later like normal people? |

"Having 2 partys running the country means we are screwed.
"
Is why there's usually another general election very quickly.
The difference this time is that everyone needs the Libs. They want Proportional Representation and will demand it for their support.
So, If they get that concession, in future, it is unlikely that there will ever be a majority Government again |

Leaving the description of a Hung Parliament to one side, what it means is the rest of the world sees us as a confused and indecisive country which is a negative a very big negative especially as the world is in economic turmoil and everyone is borrowing money of everyone.
Have a look at how Greece has suffered in the last year. I don't pretend to know a whole lot about it BUT the little I know leads me to think our economic woes are here for a while longer.
Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh |
