I really struggle to understand some accents. I have to ask people to repeat themselves then I feel bad because it's like they think I'm taking the piss out of their accent, but I'm not.
Anyone else the same.. or just me? |

"I do have wandering accent syndrome sometimes. I don't realise I am doing it until I get a funny look.
I don't think I have an accent but I suppose we all think that about ourselves.
"
Do you mean you end up speaking with the accent of the person with whom you're talking? |

That happens to me. I don't think the other person notices as it is usually a sign of good rapport |

"It happens to me too ... Worst part is when you laugh and stay ooh yes then they look at you like this
It's best to smile and nod sometimes "
I smile and nod but it's usually when they just asked me a question and I look like a right numpty.

Just ask them to slow down as you have a hearing problem and it solves it most of the time. |

When am away from home people say my accent is quite strong,
And other people with strong accents must think am a bit slow as i tend to stare at them while am trying to work out what they are saying,
And i sometimes answer yes to what ever they have said |

I have a slight Scouse accent, but when I go up to see the family I find my thick scouse accent comes out. Only thing is when I come back down south I have to slow down and talk very slowly like I am talking to a disabled person (no offence meant) , as no one can understand. |
