RICE - Rest Ice Compression and elevation for the first two or three days to keep the inflammation to a minimum in the initial stage. Too much uncontrolled inflammation can damage tissues further, but the acute reaction only typically last about 3 days.
After that you can use heat to increase circulation (and rate of repair) or alternate hot and cold. Heat or movement can sometimes make the injury feel better by getting circulation going but without being particularly beneficial.

^lol.
I feel your pain bro.
How did you do it.
Because it matters..if you did it stretching then..that's the worst kind bro.
Are you bandaged?...You need a compression bandage as depending on how bad it is your muscles are probably swollen.

There's a saying 'You can hurry if you like but it'll take you longer'.
With good rest a torn muscle can heal in 21 days. I kept strapping mine up with a heavy duty horse compression bandage and going dancing and it took months to fully recover! |
