Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Apparently no one wants a Gertrude or a Bertha and they definitely don't want Cecil, Willies and Rowlands.
I quite like Gertrude.
What names are being lost and which would you never give to a child?

A lot of old names are making a return. Not sure if Ethel would be popular.
Nicer than "Chardonnay" though. Or "BehindSuperdrug". (Place of conception names) |

Why aren't there more "Backoftaxi" people then?

"People are often surprisesd at my sons name they say it's lovely and fairly uncommon and quite posh sounding!! Haha!!
Englebert is a lovely name.
How did you guess?? "
Englebert Bottie.
My mate was going to call her child Tangerina. Thankfully she didn't. |

im going to call my girl montanna, but not after the place. it has history in my life as a turning point. again not the place.
its inevitable that older names will die out as the english language changes. but i do think some people should put more thought and consideration when naming.
i was named after the man my mother had an affair with... thanks mum haha |

I like some good old fashioned names and nice to see them coming back into fashion. Can't stand some of the modern names, like Jordan, Tyler, Chardonnay etc but each to their own.
The one girls name I wouldn't choose would be Lucy. Perfectly lovely name, but forever associated with a girl known as Juicy Lucy when I was about 14 for reasons of her ample breasts and I don't think I'd ever be able to get that image out of my mind which just wouldn't be right would it! |

I don't think Adolf or Myra will be popular ever again. |

There are just not enough Harold's in the world! And what about Merv? Where did Delilah go? Probably somewhere with Deloris?
Alfie is on the rise lately though.
My mother wanted to call me Amos! |

"I notice Dick isn't very popular now
My ex taught my 5 year old that Dick is short for Richard .... Sigh "
Well it is
Our son is the fourth in line with his name. It's a shame the name will end with him |

"Myfanwi... My Dad was Welsh and this was his chosen name for me... My Mum must have won that debate! ( not sure if it's still used in Wales or not now?) "
Myfanwy is a good old fadhioned Welsh name. Not used as much now but I know a few ladies of that name. There is a beautiful Welsh called Myfanwy

Jordan isn't a new name. Being used for girls is new.

"There is a kid locally called Zeberdee, I did wonder if his parents were foreign and it was a usual name for that country.....but no "
Zebedee is another good old Biblical name. I like Mordecai from the Bible too.

So not after the herb Sorrel? Say it in the West Indies and they'll think it's a drink made from the herb.

My eldest son is called Jaye. didn't realise at the time it was the female spelling of the name.
When he came out at 18 his grandfather actually said well what did you expect you gave him a girls name. The horrible man always was a homophobe
