the human race will never end, unfortunately.
by the time the earth collapses in on itself, due to a combination of all its natural resources being plundered, thus turning it into and empty sphere, and the sun dieing off, we will have become a true space going race, and all the great and the good will have moved on to make homes on other class 3 (or m class) planets, thats unless we have evolved into the gasious forms that is supposed to be our next step of evolution.
until then, im going to enjoy using oil and coal and let your great great great great great great great great great great great great great great (and so on) grandchilders worry about it |

I'm an optimist.
200 years ago who would have considered we'd have the Internet, jet air travel, mobile phones, antibiotics?
A couple hundred years is nothing in the grand scheme of things, our knowledge is advancing at an advancing rate.
I think that unless we are very unfortunate, we will have advanced way beyond our home planet long before our sun runs out of hydrogen. |

Sun will turn into a red giant and engulf the Earth.
To get gravity like Earth you need something the same mass as the Earth. A space ship would have to take the Earth with it.
If not enough gravity our bones dissolve, within a decade we will have bones wasting away.
Nearest star system like ours is a very long journey even at half light speed. |

I think climate change could pose the scope for the start of our demise. Global food shortages, populations displaced from countries, increased discarity between the haves and have nots, increased ideological differences spurring greater mistrust and terrorism where nations are at war with each other, massive health problems, including treatment resistant bacteria and viruses so international epidemics take hold and spread easily amongst the masses who are weak and malnourished. And this is just in 2015. |

If you Search Google for "Obama will start WW3 in crimea" you will see news articles from 2008 that state Obama will start will start WW3 in Crimea. No chance and as Monte said, he would have no once to sell gas to should a war start. Luckily, greed trumps all so I think the world is safe although it is extrememly unlikely that fracking won't happen now here because of their take over of Crimea (as if it wasn't going to happen anyway). |
