Because apple have a large customer base who are blind to the flaws in the system. They're locked in to a product that therefore doesn't need to work too hard on retaining their custom.
If an android user thinks one brand is falling short on standards they can get a different brand without any problems, inspires a competitive market with innovation. |

I've had 8 iPhone chargers over the past 6 years (plus iPod ones) and only 1 has broken and that's because I stood on it in knee high boots. I replaced it with a 99p one off eBay and that lasted a whole 24 hours. |

Apple quality control is exceptionally high, it is normally non apple equivalent parts that break. I go through a fair amount of charging cables but that is because of the tough conditions they operate under. Quality wise I would always recommend apple |

I love the phrasing: 'just killed itself.'
It conjures up pictures of you coming in to find it hanging from its' flex, or giving you a sad, forlorn wave, as it throws itself from a high shelf... |

"I found the same so I bought one of the cheaper versions and it's loads better.
Watch out for the cheaper versions as they can cause fires. "
If you are buying a third party USB ac mains charger (cheaper version) check for the MFI logo (Made for Iphone/Ipod/Ipad).
The quality will be much better and more reliable.

Rubbish, why would large companies and individuals spend billions every year on Apple products if they weren't the best. The rest are simply imitators |

Because in no way have major manufacturers been intentionally building hardware / firmware 'expiry' into their products for years - or simply making them impossible to repair once assembled.
No, why wouldn't any company want one of their products to last for years and years and years, negating the necessity for you to re-invest in their new product.
Revenue streams and end user lock-in? Its the stuff of fools and shareholders!

Companies have been creating built in life expectancies for years, certain manufacturers now glue parts into machine that you used to be able to change , now once these parts break or get worn out you have to replace the entire motor ( as a example ) at 10 times the cost. its a fact of life.
Apple is no better or worse than any other company ( i say using a mac as i write this ) but you do pay for style and quality as any company, it always make me laugh at the apple verses android argument . if they didn't work well and innovate then they wouldn't be so prolific and one of the latest companies in the world to date :D
Don't buy the cheap iPhone leads the new phones with the lighting connector has a chip built into the lead, it breaks |

I would never buy another Apple product, there are far too many restrictions, but my ipod is still going. |

Never had a problem with mine but the battery's are a hazard because thire battery life don't last half a day and allways on charge they dry the cells up in battery causing it to swell and causes cracks in the back of the phone iPhones the new definition of land lines cos thire allways plugged in |

I've never Broken an apple charger or had one fail and I've had their products for years. A lad at work keeps f@@king up his lightning cable because he lays in bed playing games and bends the cable right at the hilt. Things mainly break because people tend to not respect how sophisticated and delicate today's equipment is. Everybody wants there phone to do everything for them near enough wipe their ass and still want them to be as robust as a brick. |

Be fare the iphone is a kids toy when all is said and done and ever so popular on the council estates of Britain. Read any review these days they are a second tier phone far behind the top end ones from Samsung, HTC and Sony but like i said fine for those who are easily lead Barrrrrr |

Probably because they are made so damn cheaply, but sold at huge cost (and huge profit) because of the "name".
I try to avoid buying from them, although I have an iPhone myself.
Don't buy the earphones at £20+, use eBay, you can get iPod/iPhone earphones MUCH cheaper. |
