.....meet someone from here to whom you knew you we're ideologically opposed?

There are some great debates on here and aside from the fence-sitters (not a criticism) people fall often fall firmly in one camp or another.

The people I often find most interesting aren't necessarily people I agree with but those who I have a mental tussle with.

Just curious whether ideology would mean you automatically rule someone in or out?

Don't they say opposites attract?!

I wouldn't rule someone out just because they have opposing views to mine, sometimes it can be those opposing views that are at the centre of the "connection", I am naturally drawn to strong minded assertive men - it doesn't mean I have to agree with them!!!

I had a lovely chat with a hang 'em all, UKIP supporting suspected Daily Mail reader at the Xtasia Social. Very different to what I was expecting from his posts on the forum. Mind you he had a 'bostin' Wolverhampton accent and so it was hard to take much of what he was saying too seriously...

No problem whatsoever with people that have opposing views. The way they deliver those views is another matter entirely.

Depends how they put their views. If polite then fine.

If they're an aggressive bore forget them!

In the middle

I suppose it's the fact that people's personalities attract me more than anything and that is a driving factor for me wanting to meet them. I like to find out how people think, I am great at asking questions that lead people into chatting about themselves, I should of been a psychologist

I have met and am good friends with people who have very different views to my own it's not what their views are necessarily but how they put them across that would be an issue. That said there are certain core values held by some that would make it difficult for me to warm to them.

If the subject is brought up and they can have a discussion without arguing,

I would meet them

i might meet them if i was desperate maybe. i find the less i know about most people the more i would be likely to meet them. so there arent many men i would want to meet on the forums but there are a few women i wouldnt mind meeting because i like what they post.

No problem meeting them for a social. If those opposing views were brought up verbally it may be an issue though.

Passionate views and strong opinions are an attractive trait, not allowing other people to have their opinion or ruining a battle of words by becoming personal, spiteful and belittling them is an ugly trait and shows a lack of maturity and intelligence,I wouldn't want to waste my precious time on the latter type of person as I can't find any attraction in that sort of personality

Yeah I suppose how you express yourself is pretty key. I'm often guilty of not expressing myself in the most diplomatic way!

If someone composes a well thought out, detailed and robust reply in a thread, no matter how I might disagree with the sentiment I sometimes find myself thinking, God that's sexy.

There may yet be an issue though where I see a topic and what somebody says (not how they say it) repulses me. Not happened yet.

Ditto!!

The same night I was at one point sat between a die hard Tory and a serious socialist!!

Didn't talk much politics but both were great guys and everyone got on fine.

Personal beliefs are to be respected - but as Ryan said - it's how people interact and express any convictions that counts. I enjoy the company of anyone so long as they're not racist, bigoted or religious nutters! Diversity is great!

when you meet someone from fab you dont talk about politics or what newspaper you read though usually anyway, they are more likely to talk about their wives or other people they have met.

i wouldnt want to meet anyone who didnt like animals though, i think they would be a certain type i wouldnt like.

Yes I'd meet someone I disagreed with ideologically. An active mind is a turn on so the ability to debate and get one's point across is attractive to me, even if we don't agree. We'd have to be able to agree to disagree though.

I wouldn't meet someone I disagreed with unless the mental spark was there though.

I'm not looking for marriage or a relationship so compatibility of views isn't important in the least.

it depends, for me. in some cases ideological opposition can be stimulating and in kind of a brainy nerdy bitch. however, i think that there are cases where it would cause me to not want to meet, i.e. if they're incredibly disrespectful, willfully ignorant once new evidence is shared with them, or don't practice what they themselves preach..... or try to convert me.

what really makes me want to meet someone is showing they have a modicum of intellect, a sense of humour,

and

veris and cock pics that make me cream, shudder and tremble in anticipation.

Some of my favourite people on here are the complete polar opposite to me. I like people who stand by their convictions and are passionate about the way they explain their reasoning. I also enjoy giving them a good ribbing about it and their replies.

There are some that take themselves far too seriously though. Those that cannot take any form of joke or criticism, those are the ones I tend to avoid. That being said, I will give anyone a chance, what they do with it is up to them...
