I'm just waiting for my design to be completed before I start my sleeve. Going to be a long drawn out and expensive 3 months but looking forward to the end product |

You can't really tell anyone else how much it'll hurt, our pain threshold is all our own.
My backpiece was 2 and 3 hour sessions. Only the soft tissue bit on my waist stung (afterwards not at the time) however so many people warned me it would hurt on boney areas, it didn't.
Trust with such a large piece you've chosen carefully. Mines 20 years old now, itd be a bummer if I hated it!

"I won;t use EMLA cream, tattoos are supposed to hurt, for me that is part of the ritual of having one done.
"
Some still hurt with the use of emla. Some of mine certainly did. |

Not going to lie, it'll hurt being tattooed in that area, especially the outlining. But two hours is a pretty manageable session so I'm sure it'll be ok. Good luck! |

It will feel like butterflies on her skin. If you believe that your in for a shock it will hurt like he'll. I have one that goes from my chest to my shoulder and on my throat. I tried emla cream and even that didn't help |

"What is this emla cream? Is it that numbing cream stuff? If it is I have heard it can affect the final look of the tattoo is that true? "
i think its to do with bleeding, you bleed more and so it can push the in out....possibly requiring more touch up work |

Oh stuff that we prefer the work to look good the 1st time hopefully we should be getting a hell of a lot more work over the next few months so will experiment with the different creams see which work best |

bepanthen is what i have been recommended for all of mine. its a barrier cream so doesnt push any moisture in (which in turn pushes ink out and allows the skin to heal. its gentle cos its for use on baby's bums |

I don't get what everyone is saying about over the collar bone hurting I have black tribal over both mine and it never hurt there, the pain generally subsides after the first 10 minutes once you get used to it my most painful ones have been thouch ups and multiple blended colours over one area, because you are effectively going over scar tissue or areas that have started to heal |

Emla is only any good for outline or writing where the needle only goes over the same area once. Its no good at all for large areas of shading or colouring. My chest piece was bearable but i too found the collarbone the worst. It took about an hour and a half. My pain threshold is shit tho |

A girl I knew had problems with her tat after using emla cream. Ink didn't take into her skin, when she got home amd washed it down, most of the ink came off too. When I spoke to my tattooist, he said it's most likely because it wasn't left the amount of time before being ink'd on.
Most of my future tats involve a huge amount of shading, so emla cream is ko good, but as I say, it would ruin the experience for me having less pain. |

you can't have much left to do on it if your having 5hr sittings I think I have maybe another 6hrs work to be done on that sleeve... Then I need to start on my full back cover up. |

When I had my back done, all the spots they said it would hurt the most, spine, shoulder blades, soft spots, didn't. Mine was a killer on the muscle on each side of my upper spine. Everybody's different. Loved the experience. |
