"It depends which IQ test you take and which classification you use, so a raw figure of say 130, is pretty meaningless except to say it's above average "
Er....having checked...well above average and superior! |

"Done the online test and assesed at 151 but never attended the physical sit down test at a mensa centre."
Same here, think I came out at about 135, can remember doing same about 20 years ago and was around 145 so I'm obviously on a downwards spiral...it's a bit worrying, by the time I'm 290 I'll probably have the IQ of a Jezza Kyle guest |

Did an online test years ago can't honestly remember the number but it was up there but to be honest the whole academic /IQ thing I think is a load of bollocks I have come across plenty of people who are said to be v intelligent( academically)and to be honest if they are set a 'real life' problem that they aren't able to google or read a book on they are fucked! There is a big difference between common sense intelligence and academic intelligence IMHO. |

The term "IQ score" is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile (a score that is greater than or equal to 98 percent of the general population taking the test) on a standard test of intelligence. |

Tbh as long as I can pay the bills feed family, hold a conversation dress myself and learn abit aabout life the universe and everything. Then iq results are for others.

Ok two clocks are set with a time exactly 12 hrs apart. One clock is one second slow every 24 hrs
The other is exactly 1.5 seconds faster.
How many seconds will it be before the both show the exact same time.
Enjoy |

Honestly have no idea of answer. I was bored sitting in traffic the other day and thought of this to pass time. Lost interest just trying to work out how many seconds in 1 hour like I said no genius.
So cabbages is very probably the correct answer. |

An extremely high IQ can be a hinderence. I've seen people who are extremely intelligent struggle too communicate with the masses. The ability to communicate and have a reasonable amount of common sense is going to get you further in day to day life

I used to work at the national physical laboratories in teddington. There was a scientist there who was one of the most intelligent men in Britain, guy could just about tie his own shoe laces. And never able to hold a normal conversation with anyone. |

I would agree with this. Many people with a high IQ tend to have a little less life experience from my experience. I've never been like that. I like to go out and experience things and learn at the same time. Yes, I can be a nerd and an introvert at times but I van also talk your arse off and have a good laugh.
The scariest fact regarding my IQ is that it puts me in a similar range as many serial killers |

The Jack Daniels test is not the most accurate of the tests out there so don't feel too bad. |

I expect my IQ would be in minus figures if I had to do one of those tests about if a train was travelling at 30 mph in one direction and a dog was running the other way at 5 mph how long would a piece of string be? However if the questions concerned cake especially Victoria sponge I think I would be in the top 5 percent |

I would never take one myself, I know who I am and my strengths and limitations. I don't need a questionable assessment of intelligence devised by another person or persons to know in what ways im thick or otherwise. Who made them (mensa) custodians of what it means to be intelligent? And what is intelligent? Comes in many forms in my personal experience so why buy in to a prescribed _iew.
Sorry for rant, never understood the credence people give to it, seems like a cerebral pissing contest.
Yes im grumpy, we had to cancel a meet.

What good does Mensa do? Seems to be a very inward looking organisation.
In terms of IQ, you have as much chance of being successful in life with a outgoing and congenial personality. How else do you explain Big Brother and TOWIE? |

What does mean?
Why so touchy ?
Just that someone has worked out the answer to a question I made up on spur of the moment and no idea if the answer is correct.
Nice work if correct. |

"Has just been assessed at 130+.
Has anyone else had the test??"
Some education experts say all an IQ test does is prove you are good at IQ tests and the idea it proves how intelligent you are is laughable.

I've done a few of those online ones and always got between 128-130, but I don't read in to them, I just do them to pass the time when bored, brain training if you will. I don't think they measure intelligence, logic yes, but intelligence no.

Had a test at 18. Came out high, when certain faults were pointed out and explained i argued that the questions set were only correct in the eye of the setter. I didnt do well at school, was highly disruptive. The iq test should be taken with a pinch of salt, it mainly deals with a majority of what they think you should understand generaly. There was general knowledge questions that you would only know through age or specific study. In my experience, some of the people i know who are regarded as exceptionaly clever , are only so in their field, and can be fuckin stupid when it comes to common sense. When some tit witters on about what uni they attended, my alarm bell rings and i think "here's another thats allocated too much grey matter to one topic and left nowt for owt else". Well thats my rant. eh. |

Yea, I read or heard something like that, that people with very high IQ's are good in certain fields. Like they may be able to work out a complex sum, but have bad common sense.
I've never taken an IQ test.
I knew someone who claimed they had an IQ of 152, but they swore like a trooper, was a at time a verbally vicious swine, a nit-picker (always finding something wrong) etc. |
