"BBC news just said kids as young as 6 are looking at porn online.
Where the hell are their parents when they are watching this"
Probably posting their private life all over facebook via 5 minute status updates or playing candy crush |

I am not surprised as I have heard some of the stories my 14 to 16 year old students tell, and I have know parents to give kids as young as 7 beer to keep them quiet |

Kids today have it far to easy... I had to wait until I was in my teens and cycle for miles around the local lanes before I found some stashes of Escort/Fiesta/Knave that had been dumped by passing drivers |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
The report was pointing out that this is just for PC use. The data is not there for tablets, smartphones and game consoles that now connect to the internet.
As children are allowed unfettered access to gadgets, often having machines in their rooms it's not that surprising. The young people I know have all told me they know how to unlock the parental controls and so do their friends.
We live in a more sexualised environment with music videos being what we might have considered porn when were young (well, those my age perhaps).
Have a look at the NSPCC Pants Campaign and expand that into discussions about online safety.

My laptop also has parental controls and I still check my daughters sectio o it. You can download apps that block adult sites and the provider can too so kids should not be able to access this things. I do all I can to protect my children online. She was following someone on instagram who was nasty and on checking her phone and seeing this I made her stop following this girl.
