When editing pics (not just pics for fabs) what programs do you use?

I tend to use picassa or corel but always on the lookout for more

Are there any other decent free ones out there?

For free basic image editing I swear by IrfanView, which will do lots and is very intuitive to use. It will handle batch convert/rename stuff if necessary too (not sure how relevant that is to Fab pics!).

If I want to do anything more sophisticated I'm a fan of Fireworks which I've used since my web design days.. but of course that's out of the 'free' category!

Dont edit any pics. I cant hide my wobbles and bad looks on a meet so ya might as well see what ur gettin as opposed to what i would like you to think ur getting.

We all have lucky shots tho !

I use photoshop daily (not on my pictures here though) but it is rather expensive.

It depends what you are looking for but the best comprehensive one is probably GIMP.

If you want to just do touchup and such there are probably other better and easier to use options.

The very best to use, from experience, is Pixlr.com. It has everything you would buy Photoshop for, and much more, easy to use, and it's totally free.

I see your point. I edit mine but I can't hide wobbly bits or make myself look beautiful.

I just change colours. I don't edit my face though at all.

I don't see the difference between a lucky great shot or an edited one. On both pics you probably look like a greatly improved you. It's just one you did on purpose and one you didn't.

Agreed.

We all edit. Everyone.

Just by choosing what to show and what goes in the recycle bin we censor what others see of us.

I would just sooner people saw me than an enhanced image of an edit that's all.

Forgot to say, editing also does not necessarily mean the same as what we think of in terms of magazine editing, etc. For us it's mearely boosting colours, hiding faces, adding effects as opposed to trying to disguise body shape etc...this we do not do.

So we shouldn't assume when an image is edited it is for sinister or disceptive reasons.

Unless it's for blurring out face pics, cropping or minor effects I don't know why someone would alter their body because that's just going to be fucking awkward when you turn up to the meet?..

The only edits I make to our photos are cropping/blurring, adding text and adjusting the contrast /colour.

But admit we do look better with our heads chopped off.
