There's a massive difference but noticing on here some people clearly don't no the difference.

no your not..

but as long as there are accurate pictures of a person, how they describe themselves is up to them.

To be fair people should be allowed to describe themselves how they want to.

imo.

I think people do know the difference but would rather say they were curvy and not obese, or rather just large as there isn't an option for obese

People will describe themselves as they wish.

Some accurate, some not.

Mention the word fat, the doors of hell open wide......

Those are two amongst thousands of descriptive words that people can choose to use in their own way to describe themselves. Its not a matter of knowing the difference neither has specific sharp parameters I would say people can use words in a descriptive manner as they wish don't you agree?

Curvy and fat are pretty subjective along with quite a few other terms used on here to describe someone.

Curvy is a shape, not a size. I'm both fat and curvy - very hourglass shaped and fairly jiggly too. You can be curvy at size 6 or size 26 in my eyes.

Curvy a line that deviates from straightness in a continuous fashion

If we wish to get pedantic

Does it really matter? Ask to see pics and if their curves are more undulating than floats your boat move on

It's not rocket science

indeed, it shows the duality of man that extra weight on a woman, is positively encouraged, in most cases, yet the other way round, its to a guys detriment.

not at all, i dont think anyway.

two faced, to me, is telling someone something to their face, then saying th opposite to someone else about them.

duality, would be finding something acceptable in one person, but not in another, if that makes sense.

I describe myself as large where it says to put your description,i dont need to write in my profile text what i am,i have many pics to show im a fatchick,

I go to a party called ' curvy club' and at the profile it explains it a party for larger ladies and for men that appreciate the larger ladies, there are many partys for bbw at various clubs, would ladies go to a party called fat club, doubt that very much

All ladies are curvy and if they want to describe themselves as that,it up to the individual, whatever size they are.

See I was under the impression that Curvy meant two things:

1.) When somebody is shapely, as in they have a desirable form; attributed to a good balance of frame, muscle and body fat.

2.) When somebody has a little bit extra but makes it look good.

I also thought that BBW meant fat, although take out the second B and BW just doesn't work on its own.

That's the problem with the internet, if you clicked with someone without having to debate their shape and size, or put them into a fucking pidgeon hole, it wouldn't be an issue.

I got a friend who's huge, like John Candy huge. His personality gets him supermodel-type women. He's also great for hugs, which we do whenever we say hello and goodbye!

Glad someone else said it. As I had said via update quite some time ago, "curvy" is the most misused and erroneously assigned body types on here. There are some people who just simply need to accept that they simply have exceeded the bounds of "curvy" and are now fat enough to be squarely placed in the "large" or "ample" categories.

Either they have some kind of reverse body dysmorphic disorder or they're trying to play down the weight issue. Problem is that it all comes out when they finally make good on some full-body photos (or a meet in person).

For this reason, I'm always really wary of those who have close-ups of body parts (attractive as they may be in themselves!) but not the big picture.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I'm as fat as butter. It's my issue and not yours. I know why I am fat and why I don't change that.

Some people see beyond body shape and others are all about the shape - in every possible combination.

Let people describe themselves their way and make your own judgement about whether you like them/want to meet them or not. It's not any more of a discussion than that.

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I don't think this issue lies so much with a person's self-image or how others see them, or whether they want to be labeled one way or another.

I think the thing that is apparent to me (as it should be to everyone else who registers) is that when you sign up Fab gives you a list of body type options to choose from. It should be quite obvious that at the top you've got the skinny people and at the bottom you've got obese people, along with everything in between. The point is that it is a scale if increasing fatness (not mincing words here, just being truthful.)

Upon registration, each person has to decide for themselves where on that scale they lie. It's a bit like that thing you do to describe levels of pain on a scale of 1 to 10.

We could resolve all the "I am not to be labeled" chat by saying fuck the labels, do away with the body type categories and just provide a fatness scale similar to the pain scale.

I know I'd find it a whole lot clearer.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

"I don't think this issue lies so much with a person's self-image or how others see them, or whether they want to be labeled one way or another.

I know I'd find it a whole lot clearer."

The fatness/pain scale won't work either. Your pain level of 9 might be my 5 as I am used to living with a level of pain. In virtual land it is still subjective.

The only way to be certain is if we all get into the equivalent of the standard hand luggage measurement box in different standard sizes. (Dress sizes are not standard fit even though they have the same numbers.)

On a separate note it's not just women who may describe themselves in a more flattering way.

"Just a little disclaimer:

Just because some of the people above say they are fat and they don't care, this dosent mean that others can remind them of that as my guess is they won't like it.

I learned that lesson 20+ years ago.

I genuinely don't give a shit....a person can call me a fat slag till the pies come home....the important thing is how I see myself rather than some strangers off a swinging site...

I know I read your earlier post, I didnt post that with you in mind.

It was more about others, I know your happy with who you are.

I know

That is such a quality to have.

We are who we are, we dont have to justify that to anyone. They accept us who we are or fuck off and end up as 'their loss'.

That though isnt what the thread is about, I don't think."

Of course it wasn't but these type of threads never end up being what the OP stated

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

It's only an issue if they are lying. I have had messages from people claiming to be 'athletic'. Yet, when, after chatting, I have gotten to see more of their pics (maybe after a friend request), it is not only clear that they are NOT athletic, in a couple of cases they were very large. However, the public photos, taken from a certain angle, make them look like the type of person I go for.

Now, that is what annoys me, not the body shape but the deceit. I make sure I have a full body shot, unflattering as it is, on my profile. Anyone can take a look and decide whether or not I am the kind of person they go for. I describe myself as 'average' as, at a size 14, I am of the average dress size for a UK female.

I may do zumba regularly but would NEVER describe myself as 'athletic', any more than I would have when I used to go to the gym because I simply am not.

Im a fat/obese lady or what ever term you wish to lable me but i also have curves so how who you describe someone who is both fat and curvy?

To be honest as long and people have photos to show thoes who are intrested in meeting them then who really cares what others think ...just be happy being you and let others do the same

Couldn't have put it better MissD. "

When Trace was an athlete she put "Athletic" on our profile.

Now she's retired from competition and her body has softened she's changed it to "Curvy", as this more suits her shape.

If people are in doubt about some ones description of themselves a good rule of thumb is to steer clear of profiles which only show large boobs, one or two fanny pics and a couple of leg/ankle shots.

Stick to the profiles with full body shots, then decide for yourself.

Interesting ? I'd say she was still very athletic x

I'll just mention this a person is entitled to use any body description they wish just as we are all entitled to lie about any aspect of ourselves , whether a person should be assessed for the validity of their claims i don't see why not. If you are size 6 no boobs or bun and you wish to state curvy as that's how you see yourself that's your perogative but it is certainly not unreasonable to suggest such a declaration is a mis representation or mis leading for a man wanting a lady with an hourglass figure .

I wake up in the morning feeling 27 aparantly I'm not

I am well aware of the differences in body size/shape and make no secret of my own, some people will call me fat (as would I) but plenty call me voluptuous, curvy, fabulous, sexy - it all comes down to personal taste. As the saying goes "one man's meat is another man's poison".

I would rather be the size I am and know that I treat everyone, regardless of how they look, with respect than be so mean of spirit that I think it is acceptable to refer to others as grotesque - which brings to mind another saying "beauty is as beauty does".

I've got excess wobbly bits but I've got an hourglass shape so therefore I'm curvy.

It just goes to show, no matter what descriptions people choose, they won't please everyone.

And even with an extensive list to choose from, some people will be more honest than others........ much like when people describe themselves as 'intelligent' or 'enjoys a good laugh'.... after all that one could mean:

a) You'll think you're in bed with The Krankies.

b) I'm going to show all my mates photos of you naked.

c) I'll chuckle my tits off whilst I slaughter your family in their sleep.

Profiles are best treated in the same way you should read a hotel re_iew.... written by the hotel owner.... expect some degree of bias.

See...... I'm overweight - but am in-and-out curvy with it -so describe myself as curvy (I don't think I'm in the large or ample category just yet) But... I *do* have pics on the profile that you can get enough of an idea of my body shape, so hopefully that's ok

To agree with an earlier poster - curvy is a shape, not size - curves can exist on a petite size 8 or a larger size. Stand 3 women size 12 together and you could have 3 totally different body shapes, even though they all wear the same size clothes...

"I am well aware of the differences in body size/shape and make no secret of my own, some people will call me fat (as would I) but plenty call me voluptuous, curvy, fabulous, sexy - it all comes down to personal taste.

I've called myself fat and just get people rolling their eyes at me or telling me not to be daft, and this isn't just from men that are in need of a hole! I know what I am, but if I were to put on my profile 'fat munter' I'd gets loads of messages from the sites white knights telling me how beautiful I am, and I just can't be arsed with it so I describe myself as accurately and inoffensively as I can so that I don't look like I'm attention seeking, but also to come across positively enough to attract those that do have have soft spot for us lard arses. So if calling myself a Curvy BBW gets me meets and reduces the sympathy messages then that's how I'll describe myself. I have pics so that those who click can see my body shape and size and decide for themselves if they like my wobbly bits or not

If I lose weight and become skinny again I will lose my men I like seeing. One told me he wants me to gain another half a stone, which would be too uncomfortable for me. And he's a doctor so should be concerned about my health not his enjoyment

Some of the most judgemental, critical people on this thread have descriptions that I think are downright wrong. It's all subjective.

I have photos so everyone else can decide for themselves, (when I'm meeting, that is. I'm not at the moment).

One thing that occurred to me though is that it's clear that photos are vital in deciding if you fancy someone. However, the OP who is happy enough to observe that sometimes people's descriptions of themselves can be misleading, only has photos of one of them on their profile.

I could equally well say sorry but athletic means displaying some defined musculature.

Others may disagree, of course.

People in glass houses eh?

funny how the ones that started this thread, and in fact, backed them in insulting all those that arent 'perfectly slim' have backed away from defending their opinion.

maybe they were turned down by a fatty and didnt feel they deserve it

Beauty is subjective. Fat isn't. Curvy as a description clearly is.

Some seem to confuse an athletic *body type* with being physically fit.

It's possible to be athletic without looking athletic. And many are.

It's not just women with rose-tinted spectacles.

And "curvy" men? What on earth is that about?

Ah us pesky fatties who punch above our weight and wouldn't get a second glance in a pub.

To be fair, I don't think the OP was malicious. Ill-conceived perhaps but not malicious.

Some of the other comments have been entirely uncalled for though.

how comes my name always pops up when it comes to dropping into threads and causing a little trouble? lol

as for the subject.

im me, and thats all i can be

fat

thin

tall

short

intelligent

stupid

i couldnt give a flying swans arsehole what others think about me.

i know what i see in a mirror, and i describe myself thusly.

if you feel the need to shout at me in a club/pub/street, well guess what, it aint something i havent heard before.

so what?

im much happier knowing im the type of person that judges people on who they are and not what they look like.

would rather get to know someone and find they are arseholes, than never give them the chance because they look funny, have moobs, a saggy arse or whatever many other reasons people find to segregate others.

" im puzzled Herc

to find out you have to watch the documentary 'plying with swans' where they put a cam on a swans head, and in one section you can see what the swan following the lead swan sees.

its like walking around with a prune taped over your eyes.

just unfortunate that the 2nd swan didnt slow down as quickly as the first.

it looked like a swan limo....

I take it ive got to use 'duck' tape when I stick this prune over my eyes ,,,

I take it the prune juice that dribbles down your face just adds to the effect

I'm fat

My husband is fat

We both like other fat people

We describe ourselves as large as that is the only available option. If there was a fat option we would use that as to us fat is not a negative word.

As a personal preference I would choose a big man over a smaller one any day. BUT ultimately it's what's inside that counts, the way a person carries themselves, their confidence, aura whatever you want to call it, that's what makes someone attractive in my eyes. Six packs & big cocks are all very well & no offence to those that possess them but if they belong to an arrogant arsehole then that's a massive turn off for me. Give me a three pack & an average sized cock attached to a really nice guy any day of the week
